1. What is the Flexner Report? How did it impact health care in the United States?
The Flexner Report is a list of studies and very important part of medical educational history for the Americans and Canadians. The Flexner Report was prepared by a secondary teacher and principle by the name of Abraham Flexner in 1910. The report spoke the importance of being self-educated. Many of the medical schools were proprietary schools that were mainly focused on profits rather than education Abraham Flexner proposed in German tradition that were strong in Biomedical Science together with hands-on clinical training.
2. What are the Healthy People report initiatives? Describe three current initiative to your classmates.
The Healthy People report initiatives are to increase life expectancy, reduce health disparities, and increase access to preventive services. Three of the current initiatives are to increase the awareness and understanding of the basis of health, disease, disability and the opportunities for progress. Another one is to provide measurable objectives and goals that are applicable at the national, state and local levels. Last but not least to identify critical research, evaluation, and data collection needs.

Why was the health insurance developed? What was Kaiser’s role in this?
The health insurance was developed to pay for expenses for medical reasons such as illnesses and being hospitalized. Blue Cross Blue Shield offered insurance if a patient were to be hospitalized. Also there were insurances such as Medicare and Medicaid which were offered to the elderly, disabled, and indigent. Kaiser’s role in this was that that it made health coverage mandatory so that is would be universal to all citizens.
