Faculty and staff members also participate in pre-school professional development days designed to provide collaborative opportunities for teachers and staff. Both of these events involve sessions focused on building school-wide relationships, team building, and improving overall morale amongst faculty and staff. Teachers, school administrators, and district personnel are involved in the delivery of culture building activities and setting academic priorities and goals during these sessions. These professional learning opportunities include grade-level, content specific, and school team building activities, goal setting, and collaboration that are focused on school and district priorities. Analysis of school discipline data indicates that out of school suspensions are continuing to decrease every year. Currently, there have been zero out of school suspensions for the 2017-2017 school year. This is a result of the previously mentioned PBIS system as well as intentional and consistent management practices being implemented school-wide. Students in all grade levels are escorted by a staff member as they transition throughout the building. Knowing that we have multiple buildings, this continues to be a critical component of the overall safety school-wide. Students have to go outdoors to transition from one building to the next (one area which is not gated).
