Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez After viewing Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez on page 154 and 155 of A World of Art, I found a couple formal qualities in terms of organizing space. The first formal quality is representing a three dimensional space. In this painting Velazquez creates an illusion of deep space because the objects closer to the viewer seems to be larger then the objects beyond it. The second formal quality is one-point linear perspective. A one point linear perspective occurs when lines are drawn on the painting in such a way to represent lines pointing to a single object.     The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh is consistent of his typical artwork. He uses the lines free and loose making it an expression of his contour lines. The spacing between the stars and the curving contours making it a dot to dot effect. Van Gogh’s, The Starry Night” portrays his personal emotion.
