Forrest Gump Movie Analysis
I choose Forrest Gump as a historical movie. The movie was about a young man with a mental disability that goes through this major event in the 1960 – 1970s not only that but it was kind of romantic. Though out the entire movie, Forrest seems to be going along with the time line in his life looking for his first true love Jenny. Mean while she is living it out as a hippie tagging along with the wrong crowd and as for Forrest he maintains hope that one day she will love him. Not only that but the events that he lived in leads him to become a war hero and a billionaire. In the end he realize that life keeps on going as a “destiny or floating alike a breeze”.
Though out the movie they show specific event that happening in the United State but

This general was the one that started the Ku Klux Klan. “They all dress up in their robes and their bed sheets and act like a bunch of ghost or spooks or something”. I guess Forrest mother was part of that social life because he knew his background. He also mentions that her great, great, grandfather own a house more than thousand years and the looks of it reminds me of a plantation. Not only that but she gives an African American as a maid. But I guess I might be jumping into conclusion.
In the movie Elvis Presley comes out, it funny how Forrest inspire Elvis dance move. Which made the king really famous, and in the end they just mention that he had a heart attack which it happen in 1977. Which in reality it doesn’t need to much explanation for the king of blues just that he was the first white person to express himself as a wild person without been judge like the

Not only that be he also said that Robert Kennedy was assassin at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in 1968. But in the movie they didn’t mention why or where were they wore assassin, they just cut to the chase and move on. We know that the Kennedys story is a cover up but no one knows the true reason just that the system or law was trying to cover up the true story. After Forrest graduate from college he got recurred to the army where he will end up in the Vietnam War. Where he also meets Babba for the first time (slave background) and developed a

She was on one side of the window while the patients were on the more unfortunate side. In a therapy session, R.P breaks the window, in the movie and in the novel, to get cigarettes. The glass breaking wasn't only a turning point in the story, but also for Mcmurphy. McMurphy became a larger than life character to the patients.…

After the civil right movement, films such as Unforgiven, Posse, Silverado, and even Django Unchained paid tribute to a 1970’s Blaxploitation era. Still movies like Unforgiven, Silverado, and Posse had black leads dying, but they died in a more heroic form. The 1993 film Posse reversed the skin color of the actors from the film The Wild Bunch. The film is basically a re-vision of the film The Wild Bunch. The film Posse is also a contemporary western settings, classic west themes, classic firearms, and ideas, but staring black actors now. Also to note, rapper Big Daddy Kane’s character Father Time soon posing as Ku Klux Klan member, to rescue his group from trouble. Father Time may have got this scene from another famous film from the…

The movie I chose is Steel Magnolias; the character is Shelby. The movie begins on Shelby’s wedding day to Jackson Latcherie. Shelby is the only daughter of M’Lynn and Drum Eatenton; and has two younger brothers, Tommy and Jonathan. M’Lynn is very protective of Shelby because she is a diabetic and has had fragile health since childhood. Shelby appears in the movie in early adulthood; the movie does not address Shelby’s progression from stages one thru five. She is introduced to the viewers in Erikson’s sixth stage of psycho-social development, Intimacy vs. Isolation. This stage of development focuses on forming intimate loving relationships leading to long- term commitment with someone other than a family member (McLeod, 2008). Shelby’s primary concern, after marriage, is starting a family of her own; this progresses Shelby to Erikson’s seventh stage, Generativity vs.…

Although “Steel Magnolias” was made in 1989 it is personally my favorite chick flick. Possibly because my mother and grandmother watched it way too many times when I was young. "Steel Magnolias" is about the close knit relationships between six ordinary Southern women that are living in a small town in Louisiana. The actors and actresses bring the story line alive with their snappy attitudes and funny dialog. Throughout the film the setting sets a mood that can be hilarious or tragic. But just by the setting you are able to tell what the mood is. For example in the beauty parlor there is humor but in the hospital or the grave site after Shelby’s death there is a tragic mood that was set by the setting. “Steel Magnolias” is a wonderful film…

When adapting a well-known and loved play into a movie, the adaptor must keep in mind how the audience will react to a new version of a beloved story. An example of this is A Raisin in the Sun, which was adapted into a movie in 2008. Lorraine Hansberry wrote the original play and Paris Qualles adapted that play into a TV movie. The main themes of the story are family, faith, and hope. Following the narrative of a lower-class family living in Chicago in 1959, the play deals with racial tension, family issues, the journey from childhood to adulthood, and how each individual person impacts others around them, within the family unit and out in the world. Some minor issues with the play were resolved in the movie, such as the role of women and how they did not seem to have lives outside of the apartment. The 2008 movie adaptation stayed true to the original framework of the play while enriching the story for a modern audience.…

The movie “Good Will Hunting”, chronicling the story of an unknown genius with a photographic memory, redefines the word “genius”. Whereas MIT professors and their colleagues struggle to understand higher level mathematics and algorithms, this humble janitor solves the queries as if they came directly from an episode of Sesame Street. Will Hunting does not attend college; he is self educated via books which he reads at an astonishing pace, flipping the pages as if there were just a word on each page. Will Hunting (while fictional) is the epitome of intelligence and clearly would possess one of the most comprehensive knowledge resources on the planet. In a tutorial with a vast source of knowledge such as him, learning would be virtually limitless.…

The 1990’s film phenomenon Forrest Gump is probably one of the most skeptical films of its time. Most critics have highly enjoyed this entertaining movie. Roger Ebert referred the film as a “magical movie”. Others such as Hal Hinson from the Washington Post called Forrest Gump “a real zero”. Nevertheless, the success of Forrest Gump out voices the critics, racking in millions of dollars. This comedy/drama has people of America falling in love with Tom Hanks’ brilliant performance of Forrest Gump and laughing through historical scenes that included great special effects and directing of Robert Zemeckis. There is no question why this heartwarming film won an Oscar for best picture of the year, but the real controversy lies in discovering the message of the film, if there is even a message.…

My initial impression of Forrest Gump is rather positive. He is very nice; although a little slow. Forrest as a child did not speak until nine minutes into the movie, telling me a lot about his personality and slight mental disorder. Experts suggest that Forrest Gump probably has pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) which explains why he did not talk for the first couple of scenes. The underlying point is that he developed a little slower than average, which is portrayed in the beginning by him not…

Another subtle symbol are the different meanings of shoes. The first time Forrest is seen with shoes is the time he is getting his braces because of his crooked back. The braces itself are a symbol of hindrance. These braces prevent him from walking normally and causes him to get a lot of stares. When people would stare at him, Forrest’s mother would tell him “don’t’ ever let anybody tell you they are better than you.” When him and the nurse were sitting on the bench at the bus stop, Forrest commented “there’s a lot you can tell by someone’s shoes, where they are going, and where they have been.” This seems to foreshadow the rest of the movie because the braces show Forrest’s challenges in life. However, once the braces fell off, nothing was…
