Foster Care: A Case Study
Social workers have played a vital role in foster care since foster care for children was created. Ensuring that every child has the opportunity to live in a happy and safe environment is the foundation of what foster care stands for. According to Bruskas (2008), the term foster care refers to all out-of-home placements for children that have been removed from the home of their parents. These children may be placed in the certified foster home of a non-relative, within the home of relatives, or in a group home or institution type setting. A child being placed in care can be caused from a parent requesting the state to temporarily take custody of their child, or it can be caused from a child being removed due to neglect or abuse inflicted
