From a young age, my mom had always said I was extremely empathetic. She’d described it as somewhat of a sixth sense; the ability to completely understand what’s going on around me. While applying for colleges this summer, the first and most important category dealt with possible majors; mine being social work. I’ve already received acceptance into Northern Michigan University to study social work, and will hopefully learn more about the ever changing system and the best way to approach my long term goals. The most imperative long term goal I have includes creating my own foster home when I’ve saved up enough money for it and after completing my masters in Social Work. The children in the foster care system have experienced events unlike any we could believe, and their courage is what has encouraged me to keep persevering for them.
