underneath the banner of the Catholic Church. They maintained their large family traditions, often having more than five children. The second group of French speaking people that helped found Canada were the Acadians.
These French speaking people helped found the Maritime Provinces and contributed to the way their farms are arranged and organized, they way they drain their swamps to farm the land and the way they speak. Unlike the French of Quebec, the French of the Acadians is not as proper. They have a more laid relaxed way of speaking. The Acadians had strong ties with the natives in the area. This meant that they had good trade links and strong allies. These alliances allowed close interactions with the natives of the area, this breed a distinct French language, incorporating parts of the native speech, causing a mix of cultures forming one culture. This brought about a distinct lifestyle as well. They had strong communities, their own food style and even their own brand of music. Provinces. The English nation that helped shaped Canada’s culture is divided into two parts, the British immigrants and the American loyalist refugees. While both of these people are loyal to Britain they both lived in two different lifestyles and brought two different cultures when the immigrated to Canada. The British immigrants brought their religion, a strong protestant back ground. They too used their religion as a center of community and as a bonding factor, allowing prosperity and faith to be shared amongst the people. Unfortunately this religion clashed with the religion of the current French Roman Catholic occupants of the land. These immigrants also brought along a sense of nationality and loyalty to the crown. These people also had a stronger sense of authority and royalty. The American loyalist brought a different lifestyle with them. While they too spoke the English language, it wasn’t as formal or as proper as the British English. It had more slang and carried a relaxed tone to it. The Americans brought a different form of nationality. Whereas the British focused on where the originated from and their rulers across the sea, the Americans focused more on the land and communities and leaders of the land they were living on. They remain loyal to Britain but they knew that their distance made it harder for decisions and focused on the government in Canada as the dominate force. They had brought the American focus on industry and business suaveness. These two English cultures conjoined to from a mixed-up different lifestyle for the English. They grew as one conjoined culture, creating their own beliefs and ideas. The forth group were the original inhabitants of this land, the Native Americans.
While there people has gone through torture, racism, exploitation, and even hunted, these people have had an effect on everything that has happened in this country. They showed newly landed Europeans how to farm the land, what crops grow the best. They introduced them to the corn crop. They brought about how movement through the land had to be conducted, weather it was by canoe or by foot, they showed the trails and the rivers. They had introduced us to their religion and stories and legends, which are still told today. They had their language incorporated into our language and vice versa, look at the name of our country for example. These men and women, although exploited and taken advantage of, helped shaped this country into what it is
today. It takes more than two countries to found one some diverse. This are just examples of Canada back then, if we look at it today, you can find and trace how every country existing has helped shaped Canada into the co culturally diverse country we are.
