Four Seasons Sales and Service is a professional indoor tanning distributor with over twenty years of industry experience that was founded in 1983 by twin brothers, Ronnie and Johnny Allen. Ronnie’s wife owned a small beauty salon, and she decided to add tanning as an additional business. …show more content…
At that time, they were one of the few individuals in the area with any experience on tanning products and tanning equipment. The business started when Ronnie and Johnny worked on their own tanning beds and began to repair other salons in the area. Before long, they began carrying tanning products to help their clients achieve maximum tanning results, and teaching them how to properly take care of their skin while tanning. This was the largest and fastest growing part of the business. What began as a business promoting products and services out of the back of their truck rapidly grew into a large-scale warehouse operation that expanded to shipping nationwide.
Four Seasons Sales and Service also have proven management in distribution of and consultation on tanning products, parts, services, and marketing advantages, while also staying well equipped with first-class investigative, design, and problem solving skills.
The Allen brothers always reinvested in the company, and prided themselves on taking care of the heart of the business; their employees. Currently Four Seasons Sales and Service provide approximately two-hundred full time professional specialists that are friendly and efficient, and are dedicated to partnering with salon owners to help them achieve their very best.
Four Seasons is proud to be the only employee owned company in the Indoor Tanning Industry. SWOT * Strengths- Four Season is the only business of its type in the east coast region, giving them the advantage of sales compared to any other company in the area.
* Weaknesses- Four Seasons Sales and Service do not have any promotions or any type of sales towards the west coast. It’s very hard to meet their west coast customers and keep in touch with them like on the east coast. * Opportunities- Four Seasons gives your company the resources to grow and make money. Buying bulk products from the manufacturer, allows them to resale that product to the salons at a discounted price, which then gives the salon more profit when sold at MSRP. Four Seasons also has marketing strategies that they will help growth. They offer Four Seasons University which will lead you on the right track if you’re interested in opening a salon or expanding your current one. * Threats- On July 1, 2010 the government imposed a 10% tax on using any equipment that has UVA and UVB. The government is now also trying to implement a tanning ban on any under the age of 18 years old.Financial Snapshot of Four Seasons Sales and ServiceFour Seasons is a privately owned company, therefore it was impossible to find the financial data of this company.Between the economic downfall and with much legislation trying to make it harder for individuals to tan, my thoughts would be it is an industry losing money. Compared to many years past, attending tanning conventions I have noticed a smaller
participation unlike any others.Marketing Strategies * Place- Our primary distribution center is located in Paris, Tennessee. They receive their product from many different vendors, primarily delivered to via truck line carrier. Four Seasons have a smaller call center with some shipping capabilities in Greensboro, North Carolina. Four Seasons operates a third call center in Springfield, Illinois. * Price- Salon prices listed lamps range from $9.95-$27.00, Lotions range from $14-$130+, Acrylics range from $179-$2500. Four Seasons also offer a wide range of salon accessories, cleaner and add on sales items such as lip products, sunglasses and clothing. Price range varies based on product line, but between $0.99 cents and up. * Products- Four Seasons offers all major tanning lotion product lines including Australian Gold, California Tan, Designer Skin, Swedish Beauty, Performance Brands, Devoted Creations, Supre, Hempz, Body Drench, Norvell, Synergy Tan, Tan Inc, Mystic, and more. Four Seasons also offers a vast array of Sunless opportunities from Mystic, Norvell, and more, as well as, offer a selection of bath, body and personal care items. Four Seasons also offers apparel, jewelry, clothing, footwear, and more. Salon supplies such as signage, cleaner, towels, posters. * Promotions- Four Seasons considers their catalog the primary way to reach customers. Annually, Four Seasons produces a 220+ page color catalog that is shipped to thousands of salons across the country. Four Seasons also has several websites. Four Seasons also publishes advertisements in several industry trade magazines to reach salon owners. They also use email blasts on a regular basis (approximately 3-4 a month), in addition to emailed updates of promotions. Four Seasons produces two monthly newsletters. One is called Salon Cast that is sent out to all staff members and customers with new items, the other is for My Salon Site users that contains marketing and retail tips.SWOT of your SKAs * Strengths- I have been in the tanning field for more than ten years. I am knowledgeable about numerous products, and have made great monies in commissions when it comes to my sales. I can also explain the different types of tanning beds and inform the client on their expectations of results. * Weaknesses- Never working for Four Seasons in the past I would have lack of knowledge when it came to pricing the products, and the promotions offered. * Opportunities- I would find great benefit in working for this company, and the opportunity would allow me to learn the mechanics of tanning equipment. * Threats- this company is located 118 miles away, and would take 2 hours and 15 minutes of travel one way.RecommendationsI would find great satisfaction in working with this company upon everything I have found out working on this paper. I have great knowledge in many of their product lines, and have great customer service skills. Four Seasons also pays for individual insurance for their employees. Advancements are based on your dedication; what you put into the company is what you receive. The more customers that you help make sales, the more money you will make. This company has few management positions, but should one become available they do hire from within. However, financially working for this company may not add up to all positives. The government is trying to enforce many laws about tanning which is hurting the industry. The past years attendance to tanning conventions has been on the decline. It’s hard to determine what the future will hold. | • Accessories and Apparel
