Fox Hunt Foreshadowing Examples
The stories “Fox Hunt” and “Old Ben” both use the same elements foreshadowing and flashback. The story “Fox Hunt” is about a young boy who is about to take his exams and finds this girl who he suspects is a fox. His mom tells him a story of a fox girl helping his ancestors with their exams and the narrator investigates. The story “old Ben” is about a boy who finds a friendly snake and takes it in as a pet. His parents aren't too happy about it at first but begin to like it. As the seasons change the snake goes away. After the first season change the snake comes back but later dies due to the hogs on the farm. Both stories show foreshadowing and flashbacks in similar and different ways to develop the story.

of foreshadowing and flashbacks. One example of flashbacks would be when in the story “old ben” and “Fox hunt” they both flashback to the time an animal did something. Like in “Fox Hunt” they flash back to the time a fox helped the boy with the PSAT’s in in return for a reward. And in “old ben”, the snake became friends with the narrator. So in both stories the animals got involved in the main character's life.
Both stories show differences also of foreshadowing and flashbacks. For example, both stories had an outcome that had been foreshadowed. In the story “Fox Hunt” Lee fujin had actually turned out to be fox and they would be together for along time because of her reward. but In the story, “old ben” the father says the only good snake is a dead one. So the difference of foreshadowing in both stories is in “old Ben” the outcome foreshadowed death, and in “foxhunt” the foreshadowed outcome is the girl is a fox that would marry for a long time.
