The problem we have is fracking. Fracking is the process of putting high pressure liquid into rocks, boreholes, etc. to force gas to release from the rock. Fracking is associated to air and water pollution, it also increases the potential for oil spills that can harm the soil and vegetation around the rock. Fracking can also cause earthquakes. The scale of the problem is very big as fracking can have negative effects on both the environment and the public health. The problem fracking causes to biodiversity is that the fluid contaminates streams and rivers that fish live in causing fish to die. Birds are also poisoned by chemicals in wastewater ponds.
