An effective leader is one that creates an inspiring vision of the future, motivates and inspires people to engage in that vision and manages the delivery of that vision. The 32nd president of the United States of America Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president to be reelected four times and he also led the United States through the Great Depression and World War 2. Many writers describe Roosevelt as having characteristics that made him a very effective leader such as he was able to connect with the people, he was self-confident, he was committed to public service, he had a clear vision of the nation and its role in the world, and he had intensive skills to be able to get his ideas off the drawing board and into action. Roosevelt achieved many accomplishments for The United States of America and it took the great leader he was to help get America where it is today. Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882, into a wealthy family. He was an only child so he was surrounded with self-importance. A Franklin Roosevelt went through life he was always determined to make a difference, he was your average student grade-wise however his motivation is what excelled him. He supported the United states through some of the hardest times such as the Great Depression and World War 2. He made decisions that changed the country for the good. Franklin D.
