The Three Items That Mean the Most to me

The short story "Medicine Bag" by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve is about a boy named Martin who has a family tradition that passes a medicine bag down from generation to generation to keep family culture. A medicine bag is a traditional North
American Indian container or bag for items of supernatural or great power.I have created a medicine bag that symbolizes my family's history throughout the years. I have included three items that are significant to me. The three items are an old necklace, my mothers wedding ring, and a picture of an SUV car. The first item I have included in my medicine bag is a pearl necklace. I choose this item because it is a reminder of all the jewelry my grandma used to make. This item represents my grandmothers accomplishments . Personally this item has a Super
natural power to me because it affects the way I look at jewelry. The second item I have chosen to include in my medicine bag is a wedding ring.
This item is important to me because It symbolizes my mother and father's relationship as a couple. It is important to me also because I never would want for them to have a divorce.
This item also symbolizes a marriage between two people that can make it through the rough times of the economy. The last item I have included in my medicine bag is a picture of a SUV car. The car was given from my grandpa to my mom.The car is important to me because it is a reminder of how much we have traveled as a family. This item represents a time when my grandpa used to collect cars. I value this item more than the others because not everyone can afford a car. In my medicine bag I choose a old necklace, a wedding ring, and a picture of a
SUV car my grandpa gave my family. I value all three of my items as priceless. They are

In the 4th paragraph of this essay, the author, Alex Horton explains how his feelings and memories can never fully be realized in a piece of jewelry no matter the care put into its creation. For his example, the metal bracelet he refuses to take off for anyone bears the date of his friend’s death on a shared battlefield years ago. In the beginning, it seems he is almost upset by the simple sterility of the ordering website’s ease of use and the removal of emotion until seeing the finished product. Alex mentions it sometimes may only be redundant and questions how insignificant it is when measured against what he remembers of that person and that fateful day in Iraq. Unfortunately, while it does serve as a daily reminder of the importance of…

The second thing I chose to put in my bag are some pictures of my family. I have my grandparents, all my aunts and uncles, my mother and sister, my fiancé and baby, and finally my dog Dori. The reason I chose these pictures to put in my bag is because I couldn’t stress enough how much my family members mean to me. I have had several friends either lose their brother, mother, or even grandparents, and it makes me WANT to cherish every moment with my family and REALIZE that I should. It also makes me thank God for the family that he blessed me with.…

Back when I was little, my biologicals dads mother gave me a beanie baby. This is a yellow bunny and it has angel wings. This was not an extravagant gift and it was special to me back when I was still young simply because my grandmother had given it to me. This gift has meant a lot to me throughout my life because little did I know that at the time I received the bunny my grandmother had cancer. After I got this gift it was a very short amount of time before she passed away. As a kid I held this item close to me because it was something that I had left of her, but as I grew up the meaning of my stuffed bunny became much more. The angel represents strength, my grandmother had immense amounts of courage through her battle, and I am reminded to…

Out of all the material items I possess, I would have to call my first car my one true prized possession. Veronica, as I often refer to her is rusty black and has more than a few bruises. Pretty much a replica of the stereotypical teenager’s first car. Possessions like these often are seen as junk to the rest of the world, but in one person’s heart it remains an invaluable treasure. For myself, I was lucky enough to find that one hidden gem in a 1998 Ford Contour. In my eyes it will be forever priceless because it is not the exterior value of the car that matters, but the long road of experience it has carried me on. My car has taught me more than I expected in such a short time, but above all it has given me memories, a feeling of responsibility, and taught me that hard work pays off.…
