Friar Lawrence Blame

In the play “Romeo and Juliet”, Friar Lawrence had a very important role. In this play he was always someone that both Romeo and Juliet could count on when they need advice or an answer to a problem. Also Friar Lawrence was seen to be the priest that always knew what was best for you in the end. Although Friar Lawrence was always there for them and was a priest he caused both families to fight and he even caused many deaths between them. Two deaths that he is most certainly accountable for are Romeo and Juliet’s.
The first thing that Friar Lawrence did that was wrong was to secretly marry Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet came to Friar to get married only days after they met. Friar being a priest and knowing what kids do should have never agreed to marry them, It was obvious that they were moving into things very quickly. “These violent delights have violent ends. Is loathsome in his own deliciousness, and in the taste confounds the appetite: Therefore love moderately: long love doth so, too swift arrives as tardy as too slow”, Friar Lawrence said this to Romeo and was
Due to Tybalt’s death Lord and Lady Capulet wanted to make Juliet happy again so they made arrangements for Paris and Juliet to get married which caused a problem because Juliet was married to Romeo. Juliet was so conflicted on what to do so she talked to her Nurse and decided to speak with Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence says to her "I do spy a kind of hope, Which craves as desperate an execution, As that is desperate which we would prevent. If, rather than to marry County Paris.” Friar Lawrence comes up with a crazy way on how Juliet can fake her own death. He tells her that if she really would do anything rather than marry him then he will give her a special potion that will kill her for forty-two hours but he cannot guarantee that it will work 100%. Being a priest he offers Juliet the option of suicide if she truly does not want to marry
