The House Hesser Firm has brought evidence to show that the Catholic Church did not establish geocentrism using the common definition of establish to mean create. The prosecution debated the definition of establish and was looking at establishing as gaining full recognition or acceptance (“Definition of Establish”). However, the Hesser House was able to show that geocentrism was a widely accepted theory dating back to the sixth century BC meaning the Catholic Church couldn’t be charged with establishing geocentrism. The Catholic Church was also charged with halting the advancement of science. This can be seen as incorrect as Galileo was reward by a Catholic supported University for his invention of the telescope, which would help advance science. The Catholic Church also helped advance science during the disagreement of geocentrism and heliocentrism with Galileo. Galileo and the Church developed our modern thinking of science that focuses on disproving theories rather than proving them. The Catholic Church, at the time, held authority and kept order for the people in Italy. If the authority of the Church was discredited quickly by Galileo’s findings, there would have been huge consequences in the form of disrupted peace for everyone. A key part of the charges against the Catholic Church focuses on the misinterpretation of the bible. As the Hesser House has explained, there is no correct way to interpret works such as the bible. In terms of using the bible to support geocentrism, it only made sense as at the time period there was nothing contrary to the earth being the center of the universe. There was not enough technology or modern methods to show otherwise. With the each part of the charges against the Catholic Church examined carefully, the Hesser House Firm see the defendant not guilty on all
