Stop The Sun
In the story Stop The Sun, written by Gary Paulsen. The main character is Terry Erickson and the main setting is Terry’s house in the late 80’s. In the beginning of the of the story Terry is worried about his dad’s sickness. This leads us to the main conflict which are his dad’s memories of the Vietnam War. Terry goes out to find information to help try to cure his dad but doesn’t know enough so he asks his dad about it. As his dad is telling the story and realizes how bad it was for him. He feels like a dead man and he has just asked him to tell the whole story that he has been hiding for a long time. The solution was telling his son about Vietnam so that he could understand it. I think this because he persists to help his father. “He knew almost nothing about the what and when he tried to find out about it, he kept hitting walls”. This shows that he is trying hard to help his father. He is also very understanding when his father is telling him all about Vietnam he listens and understands how hard it was for him to live with all of those dark memories. “Terry was still in back of him,and he nodded, but he didn’t see. He understood what he didn’t understand.” Terry is also curious. He is curious because he keeps asking his mom what is happening to his dad and why and when she tells him it is about the war he keeps asking more questions. “That’s enough questions” this shows that his mother is tired of Terry asking questions but he still gives it one more
