In the United States, there is social unrest regarding the government’s denial of the right to marry for homosexuals. Plenty of conservatives are completely against gay marriage; and many of liberals are fighting for equal treatment. The neo-Christian politicians are using religious arguments to establish that homosexuality is an abomination. While this may be their belief system, this country was founded on religious freedom, where the people are allowed to worship how they see fit. These two polarized views have created gay marriage to be a very coarse topic among Americans. Recently three states have legalized gay marriage. Can this be the start of a revolution? Also, it seems that every reason people have against gay marriage, the pro-gay marriage community finds a way to prove why it is wrong. This makes picking a side even more difficult than it originally was. The debate on keeping gay marriage illegal has many different reasons that help back-up their choice to be against it. One reason is that it is a contradicting action against the Bible. People see same sex marriage as unholy and against God’s plan for us. We know His definition to be the unity of one man in one woman, forever. Whenever one violates the natural moral order established by God, one sins and offends God. Same-sex “marriage” does just this. (“Change of Subject”).This is a really big conflict with religion. But, just like the Bible tells us marriage is for opposite sexes, it also says not to lie. Lying is a sin just like many other things we Americans commit every day. If we have the freedom to curse, lie, hate, and divorce then it is argued that we should have the same choice to marry who we please, and the choice to sin and twist the definition is ultimately ours. Besides being unholy, it is “unnatural.” An accusation quite like this is not usually stated openly, but this premise influences other arguments and lies behind many
