Who is part of “Generation Me?” The “Me” Generation is a self-centered, entitled group because they have not had to be responsible for their actions. They grew up in period of prosperity and innovation. This time in society has resulted in a generation that sees only itself. “The Generation Me is anyone born in the 1980,1990,s and 2000.”(Coscarelli, 2013)
Today’s kids feel that they are so entitled to everything, because either their parents have gave them anything and everything that they wanted. There are some people who think that they are entitled by the government. You hear things like the government owes me because of what was done to my ancestors, or I have paid my taxes and “I am entitled to the help”. This generation is so used to everyone doing for them that when they do enter into society as an adult they want be able to stand on their own two …show more content…
feet.
Everyone is this group of people grew up during the prosperous years in the United States, so therefore everything was easier for their parents to give them anything that they wanted.
Whereas now the country is in an economic loss and its hard just too sometime put food on the table in most homes across America. The society as a whole is not working like they used to in the 60’s and 70’s, when you got a job you kept until the person retired. Now in the Me Generation they go from job to job, to whatever makes them happy. “The information revolution has further empowered individuals by handing them the technology to compete against huge organizations: bloggers vs. newspapers, YouTube directors vs. studios.”(Irvin, M 2014) It is a different world to what it was in the 60’s and 70’s this group of individuals should try and remember where they come from. Its fine to want to accelerate your career, but today’s generation has no tact. They may be rude about the fact that they have done all these
things.
There a lot of great things that has come from the Me Generation. Technology is greater than it has ever been in our life time; anything you want is at your fingertips At that same token the people of today have lost the skills of real communication: talking on the telephone, writing a letter, as simple as a good handshake. Those are important things that people have lost in this society. It’s whatever is faster and quicker everyone is in such a hurry anymore; they just don’t take time to enjoy life. It goes by so fast. There are colleges that are teaching these old communications to student, because they don’t know how to do it properly anymore. This group of people just wants to send an email or text. The age of the me generation has brought a lot of wonderful things to this era, but on the other hand they have lost touch with the personal touches that people still crave. (Irvine 2014)
