Joyce’s behavior at this time of her life displays stagnation, which arises when development ceases. This is evident with Joyce upon retirement from her job as a school nurse. Joyce has cared for others her entire life ranging from being a wife, mother, grandmother and a nurse to elementary children. Joyce no longer is the provider for multiple people and this is different to her. This is a significant change for Joyce and it is beginning to take effect on her health. This is evident with the 10 pound weight loss.
Joyce is having a midlife crisis. She has some serious decisions to think about. Joyce is unsure if she wants to move from what is familiar to her.
