Throughout history, many a great empires have been built. Some so vast, that on them the sun never set. These empires however were built by multiple individuals over a period of hundreds of years. The largest empire, however was built by a group of tribal nomads led by an orphaned prince. It was the mongols under Chingis Khan who built the largest empire to ever be conquered by one man. Over the course of only a few decades he shook the world and changed history forever. He was able to rise from poverty to unite the feuding nomadic tribes, then lead those tribes to conquer the worlds largest empire. Finally, he was an amazingly liberal and kind ruler who tolerated all people and gave out unheard of kindnesses to his conquered subjects.
The man known as Chingis Khan was born “Temujin” or blacksmith in mongol. The world he was born into was one of constant tribal warfare, in which theft, murder, slavery and rape were everyday occurrences. Born to a tribal chief of the mongol tribe (mongol was the name of the tribe) Temujin was engaged at the age of 10 to Borte, the daughter of another tribal chief. When Temujin and his father were returning from this trip, his father was poisoned by the chief of another clan. His clan was taken over and he was enslaved by his fathers former servants and troops. Around the age of twelve he escaped and while traveling he met Jamukha, who would become his “blood brother” and later become khan of his own tribe. When Temujin reestablished power in his own small tribe he was on the path to living a peaceful live, until his wife Borte was captured by a large tribe called the Merkits. Temujin appealed to his blood brother Jamukha and his fathers close friend Wang Khan for aid. Together they gathered 20'000 warriors and destroyed the Merkits using Temujins brilliant tactics, thereby freeing Borte and establishing Temujin as one of the strongest khans.
