George Orwell's Correctiveness Of The English Language

After reading Orwell’s essay I found myself interested in the fact that he took real life examples, and showed the differences in the language used. He started by reading each of the 5 passages, then later broke them down. Orwell broke these passages down to a tee, and I really enjoyed his insight on how people use language to make something ridiculous sound truthful. Throughout the text I was trying to figure out Orwell’s overall goal of this passage. Orwell was trying to persuade the fact that people use the English language to falsify the truth rather than to promote it. Basically, I think he portrayed that writers of the English language need to express the truth rather than to cover it up. Orwell promotes the correctiveness of the English
language, rather than “The modern language of the worst sort.”. Throughout his examples, it becomes clear that Orwell favors corrective use of language over the false pretenses that is displayed in the text.
