George Orwell's Use Of Violence In Animal Farm

2.) From the start, the theme of Animal Farm by George Orwell has already been introduced. Introduced by Old Major a majestic-looking boar, who was respected by all animals was the first theme, which is power and violence. “Only get rid of Man, and the produce of our labor will be our own” (Orwell pg. 10). He presented the animals with the idea to take over the Manor Farm for their own benefit. His words inspired the animals that enabled them to pursue the plan they were preparing for months, even after Old Major dies. “Snowball took a brush between the two knuckles of his trotter, painted out MANOR FARM from the top bar of the gate and in its place painted ANIMAL FARM” (Orwell pg. 22). With these, Snowball along with the other animals shows
power over human beings and possession of the farm. These animals were led by Napoleon and Snowball, who were pigs and had power over the animals; decided for all the other animals. “The importance of keeping the pigs in good health was all too obvious. SO it was agreed without further argument that milk and windfall apples…should be reserved for the pigs alone” (Orwell pg. 33). In addition, inequality was another theme of Animal Farm because pigs were thought to be smarter and cleverer than all the other animals and for this they were treated better. Unlike all the other animals, who works very hard to build the windmill, Napoleon along with his assistants——Squealer, 9 dogs, etc.——are the only ones not working.
