According to Should the U.S. Scrap the Recycling program, “It’s more expensive and takes more energy and water to recycle old paper than to cut down and process pine trees and then plant pine seedlings.” When going through the recycling process it can cost more money than actually making a new product. For example, most recycling centers are sorted by hand, causing for people to have to pay for constant salaries. Even if we switch to machines to save more money, it will still cost a great deal of money. Although this does create more trash, landfills might not be a huge problem in the future. As you can see there are some negatives to having the recycling program.
In the future, if the recycling program is gotten rid of, it will have many negative effects on the environment and community. Without the program the landfills will fill up and people might find themselves living next to a dump. With liquids going into the landfills as well it could destroy wildlife. Many jobs will be lost if the recycling program is taken from us. This can harm a family deeper than people might think. Although there is a large cost for it, the recycling program is a necessity for the environment and the community around

Recycling is detrimental because 30% of people do not pick up their trash it will just sit there to rot. In the article, “Recycling Worth the Trouble Cost?,” it states 1,000 years-worth of trash would only fill a 35-square mile landfill that is 100 yards deep. This proves that we do not fill up a lot of space with trash like we do not need a huge landfill. In the article, “Cons Of Recycling,” it states originally costs $28 to send a ton of waste to the landfill while it cost $147 to recycle the same amount. This shows that it is not cheap to recycle, nothing is free.…

To start with, recycling is extremely helpful to the environment. It reduces the garbage placed in landfills, which helps the environment by reducing the need for new landfills, and pollution, where landfills emit polluted gases. It also saves energy consumption because it uses less energy than manufacturing products from virgin sources (like paper vs. new wood). In addition, the cost benefits are plenty. Extra energy savings are conserved because more energy is required to extract, transport and process raw materials ready for industry compared with providing industry-ready materials, and recycling leaves or grass is a cheap and great way to make compost.…

This problem can be solved with a simple fix: recycling recyclable material and not throwing them out with the rest of the garbage. To get more familiar with the term “recycling,” it is defined by Jacqueline Vaughn as the following, “recycling generally refers to the separation of materials in the waste stream so that some of those materials can be reused” (14). The term can now be clearly understood to know what recycling actually relates to. Recycling is important aspect to consider because of so much waste that can be recycled goes into landfills instead and pretty soon they will reach their maximum capacity and more waste dumps will be needed to deal with all the waste material that people choose to through away. People need to get more aware about this problem, which has been successful throughout the years, and need to recycle because recycling can be helpful.
