The Pros And Cons Of Recycling
One day my mom and I decided to take a nice walk on a summer day. While we are walking I see so much trash and decided to pick it up and throw it out. My mom yelled at me when I pick it up and says “ it isn’t your job to pick that up !” I am wondering why my mom is against recycling.
Recycling is detrimental because 30% of people do not pick up their trash it will just sit there to rot. In the article, “Recycling Worth the Trouble Cost?,” it states 1,000 years-worth of trash would only fill a 35-square mile landfill that is 100 yards deep. This proves that we do not fill up a lot of space with trash like we do not need a huge landfill. In the article, “Cons Of Recycling,” it states originally costs $28 to send a ton of waste to the landfill while it cost $147 to recycle the same amount. This shows that it is not cheap to recycle, nothing is free. …show more content…
In the article, “Cons Of Recycling,” it states that Costs taxpayers pay $500,000 for recycling. This proves that it is high-priced not cheap. In the article, “Cons Of Recycling,” it states it takes 20 times more energy to make aluminum from bauxite ore than using recycled aluminum. This shows that we just are wasting our energy and should be using more Aluminum.
Recycling is safe for the environment because it help keep the earth clean. In the article, “Cons Of Recycling ,” it states Americans generate millions of tons of solid waste every year. This proves that in today's environment it is a recycling place. In the article, “Eco-Cycle,” it states Roughly 20% of the sites on Superfund list are solid waste landfills.     The Republican president, Herbert Hoover, was personally blamed for failing to deal with the consequences of the Wall Street Crash in October 1929. Ruston rebut a series of myths that they say have been promoted by industrial opponents in an effort to undermine the environmentally valuable and successful recycling movement. One of them is that recycling is not necessary because landfilling trash is environmentally safe. But this statement is simply wrong. “In fact, 250 out of 1,204 toxic waste sites on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund National Priority List are former municipal solid waste landfills” (Denison 280). That means landfills are major sources of air and water pollution, including greenhouse gas emissions. Another myth is that recycling is not cost effective, and should pay for itself.
