GHB, formally known Gamma Hydroxybutyrate, is a depressant that works within the central nervous system. It is referred to as a “date rape” drug, which is used by people at parties and bars, usually slipped into alcoholic drinks. This drug is known to increase a sexual drive, and users seem to be more calm and relaxed while on GHB. Ghb is commonly known as: Georgia Home Boy, Goop, Grievous Bodily Harm, Liquid E, Gamma Oh, Great Hormones at Bedtime, Vita G, Jib, Salty Water, Liquid Ecstasy, Sleep, Soap, and Somatomax. The chemical formula for GHB is C4H8O3, This Chemical formula consists of 4 Carbon, 8 Hydrogen, and 3 Oxygen. GHB, introduced into the medicine field around 1960, was discovered as a natural chemical produced in the brain. It was used as a anesthetic, but was later abandoned by doctors because of poor after effects. They later decided that GHB was working to treat narcolepsy. The victims become incapacitated and then are unable to resist the assault, due to the sedative effects of GHB. GHB is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which means it has no current medical use and is very easy to get addicted on. In Texas the fine for having less than one gram on you is 180 days to 2 years in a state jail, and a fine of no more than $10,000. If caught with 4 grams or less, you are looking at 2 to 20 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000. With 200 grams, you are looking at 5 to 99 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000. 400 grams or less is 10 to 99 years, and a fine of $100,000. And over 400 grams of GHB will get you 15 to 99 years, and a fine of $250,000. Though there are very few positive effects, there are two main ones.
Increase in sex drive, and tranquility. An increase in sex drive means that the person suddenly desires sexual activity. While tranquility is when you are much more relaxed and peaceful. These positive effects do not outweigh the negative effects in any way. GHB is also used by bodybuilders and people trying to lose weight because it is known to build muscle and reduce fat on the body. They also use the salt in GHB as a prescription drug known as Xyrem, it is a Schedule III drug when prescribed by a doctor, but if you try to sell it or use it illegally it then becomes a Schedule I
