Giotto Vs Berlinghiero
During the Middle Ages, one could discover artists in abundance. Two of these artists were Giotto and Berlinghiero. Berlinghiero was an artist from Lucca, Italy, while Giotto was an artist from Florence, Italy. They were both inspired by the Bible, with all of their artistic works being Biblical depictions. But both followed different artistic paths. Giotto applied the Romanesque style to his work, while Berlinghiero added the Byzantine style to his art. These two styles differed dramatically from each other. The Romanesque style dealt mainly with frescoes, a technique that applied paint onto wet plaster to create artwork, and stylized statues. An example of one of Giotto’s frescoes is the, “Noli Me Tangere”. Berlinghiero, however, followed
the Byzantine style, which was a style that created mosaics and icons. One of Berlinghiero’s most noted pieces is the, “Madonna and Child”. Giotto and Berlinghiero are among many of the biblical artists in the Middle Ages.
