3. How do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions, or great earthquakes? Uniformitarianism implies that what happened in the past happen in the future. Since there were catastrophic events in the Earth’s past, it only makes sense that there will be similar events in the Earth’s present and future.
