Controversy over Global Warming

One of the largest argued topics in our world today is over global warming. People argue that is real, and others argue that it is fake. The effects of global warming create a growing danger for the ecosystem we live in by damaging glaciers and weather patterns. Humans contribute to global warming yet non-believers will think otherwise. Global warming is the greatest challenge facing our planet. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change) most of the case for global warming is a process that occurs when rays from the sun pass through the atmosphere warming the surface of the planet. In short, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living things on earth. Global temperature has risen significantly during the past century. The scientific view is that most of the temperature increases since mid-20th century has been caused by increases in the greenhouse gas concentrations, which are produced by everyday human activity. Most scientists agree that if people stop burning fossil fuels the greenhouse gases already e mitted will warm the planet two degrees by the end of the century. “The fact is, we are not making a lot of progress in reducing emissions”, Richard Moss. (nbc.news) As a result, the world is getting increasingly warmer and warmer each year. The years of 1983, 1987, 1988 and 1989 have been measured to be the warmest six years in the last hundred years. The year 1991 was the second warmest year of the past century. ("Untitled Document.") Unfortunately, the imbalance which we have created between our life and earth is already showing the signs disasters in the form of flood, cyclones, landslides, tsunami, drought, etc. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes are breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner. In North America there is a decrease in snow pack in western mountains and an increase in heat waves in the cities that

Global climate change has been a subject of much discussion for some time now. The earth has naturally gone through heating and cooling phases in its lifetime. Most scientists agree that these changes aren’t solely the product of humans, but that the time required for natural climate change has been decreased due to humans. This has led to new problems for the earth and all of its inhabitants. According to research the earth is warming at an average of 1.2-1.4° F every 100 years (epa.gov).…

What is natural rights? Natural rights are moral and physical laws, inherent in nature and discovered by reason, which must be obeyed by everyone all the time. The natural rights of man are the rights that we are born with and that we inherit from our ancestors. The natural rights of man is that we are able to think on our own and we are able to go wherever we please. Some of our natural rights came from God, who allowed us to be able to think, decide and do what we need to do to get the situation dealt with.…

Global warming’s a severe concern that is plaguing our environments and communities. Global warming occurred when the rise in the average temperature of both the Earths atmosphere along with the oceans. Since early 20th century the Earth’s temperature has continued to raise giving merit to the beliefs that global warming warrens concern. Jiansong (2011) believed tropical storms became worse over the years and global warming has become such an issue become such an issue it needs to be combated. Miller (2012) preformed experiments to measure the change in the earth’s tempters over the years. Venkataramanan (2011) believed that global warming led to an increase of disasters like hurricanes, droughts and floods; Sherman (2010) believes global warming was a severe problem. Sherman (2010) people must first look at the global temperature change, secondly people must observe the climatic changes, and lastly people need to forecast the weather trends to get a better understanding of what global warming really is and how we can improve our surroundings. Jiansong (2011), Miller (2012), Venkataramanan (2011), and Sherman (2010) discussed the global temperature changes.…

The average temperature of Earth has been warming up since 1840, coinciding with the start of the industrial revolution. However, we can not establish a cause and effect relations, because the atmosphere does not react so quickly. During the decade of the 80 's started to be clear that had begun a warmer period, so that the discussion moved towards global warming that would lead us soon to a planet unbearable in which the oceans would boil. The taste for the catastrophic end seems endless. But today they not exaggerate so much about the subject. We know that global warming is evolving slowly, is part of Earth 's natural process, but we are contributing to this process and we are not being responsible with our environment. “For almost two decades, the United Nations has sponsored annual global talks, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an international treaty signed by 194 countries to cooperatively discuss global climate change and its impact". (Nytimes.com, 2012) Is not a new issue, is known worldwide and is exploring options to minimize the impact.…

Global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of both the earth’s near surface air and the oceans. The temperature increase began in mid twentieth century and is predicted to continue into the future. For example, during the last hundred years ending in 2005, the earth’s surface air temperature has increased drastically (Thomas, C. D, 2004). Basically, global warming is the recent increase in the average air and ocean temperature of the Earth as well as its expected continuation. What is so controversial about it is the actual potential for danger and its causes. Though natural events like volcanoes and solar changes have caused small rises in temperatures over time, many believe that greenhouse gas emissions have a large part in this and that even if the emission levels stabilize, temperatures may continue rising for another thousand years or more. It is projected by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that the average global surface temperature will probably rise another 1.1-6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) during this century. Right now the average temperature of the Earth is about 13 °C, or 56 °F.…

Global warming is melting the polar ice caps, causing global sea levels to rise, and will soon flood some of the most densely populated regions on Earth. Forced emigrations of unprecedented scale will occur as populations move to higher elevations. Economies and societies of host nations will be strained, causing political turmoil and most likely war, the traditional human reaction to such changes. Conflict will occur on unprecedented levels and threaten human kind, as we know it. Humankind will not die in a heavenly hail of fire and brimstone, but in an apocalypse of our own creation.…

The advancement of technology has brought many convenience and benefits into our lives. Gone were the days when the older generations are needed to walk hundreds and hundreds of miles just to reach a destination and feel very tired and exhausted in the end. During this modern age, we can reach the destination in a very short time and without much energy wasted too. But as we become more dependent to technology, we often abuse it. The rate of factories and automobile being built has increased drastically throughout the years. This has lead to a very worrying problem that is seriously affecting our planet lately; this problem is known as Global Warming. Global warming as its name states is a global phenomenon with a number of effects that is happening in the global level. (D’Silva 2007). Global warming is poses a great threat to our personal lives and also to our world. More and more problems that are happening around us are mainly because of global warming. Our earth is not the same place anymore compared to decades ago, it is now slowly dying and this is a very serious issue that all of us should pay attention to.…

Global warming is the greatest challenge facing our planet. It is, in fact, the increase in temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere. It is one of the most current and widely discussed factors. It has a far-reaching impact on biodiversity and climatic conditions of the planet. Several current trends clearly demonstrate that global warming is directly impacting on rising sea levels, the melting of ice caps, and significant worldwide climate changes. In shorter terms, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living things on earth. Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate. There is great debate among many people, and sometimes in the news, on whether global warming is real. But climate scientists looking at the data and facts agree the planet is warming. While many view the effects of global warming to be more substantial and more rapidly occurring than others do, the scientific consensus on climatic changes related to global warming is that the average temperature of the Earth has risen between 0.4 and 0.8 °C over the past 100 years. The increased volumes of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released by the burning of fossil fuels, land clearing, agriculture, and other human activities, are believed to be the primary sources of the global warming that has occurred over the past 50 years. Scientists…

The history of the problem stems back to the 1960's when global warming was first discovered and tested. It was discovered that the CO2 levels were now increasing more rapidly than every before. Studies show now that the top 10 hottest years on earth have been in the last 14 years, with the hottest being 2005. Also, in the past 650,000 years,…

On the other hand, there have been many doubts about the validity of global warming. Many skeptics argued that global warming is a natural cycle and people have nothing to do with it. Most of them even think that global warming is not occurring, they believe that climate models used to establish global warming and to forecast its impacts are not accurate. However, the truth is, global warming is really happening right now. Based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, “the average temperature of the globe has warmed from about 13.50 C to 14.50 since the beginning of the 20th century” (Dire Predictions 36). IPCC surely brings the most reliable projections for future climate change and its potential impacts. “The reports are written by thousands of the world’s leading scientists” (Dire predictions 8). Nevertheless, even if we consider the idea that global warming is something that naturally occurs on earth, climate has never warmed up at this high speed. In fact, humans are the core reason it is occurring; the rapid increase in development of cities and technology has raised the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. The advancement in technology has led to population increase and industrialization. To provide housing for the increasing population, we have been cutting down uncountable forests. And when forests disappear, the land loses the ability to absorb carbon emissions from…

Global warming is the warming of earth’s land, water and atmosphere. Global warming has happened throughout history, but has recently become more of an issue. Every year since 2001 has made it on the warmest year record list. There is much debate whether this is a natural phenomenon or if the human population is causing global warming. There is no denying that the earth is getting warmer. As shown in the graph to the right global temperatures have risen from -.4 C to .6 C over a four year period. Judging by the graphs steady rise, it’s only going to get hotter. One thing is certain, the effects that global warming has are life threatening to many populations (“Global Warming…”).…

In this study I am going to analyse how the different countries and individual people are responsible for combating climate change. I chose this topic because last year I’d studied about this topic and climate change is one of the main problems for last 3-5 years. From starting the earth people has caused several problems and climate change one of them. Now people should be the responsible about the damage they have made and try to find ways to fix. My country might be one of the victims of climate change on the future. That is another reason why I am interested about this topic.…
