Globalization Living in a very diverse universe, It’s important to know what is going on around the world. Most people around the world aren’t aware of how globalize the world really is. According to Manfred B. Steger author of Globalization: a very short introduction, understanding globalization is as important as understanding international politics. An average day citizen needs to be informed about globalization with positive and negative aspects. Globalization is know to have multiple definitions. From “growing of centuries” to “The expansion and intensification of linkages and flows of people, goods, capital, ideas and cultures across national borders“ (Steger). Globalization ranges in five categories, economic, environmental, communications, military and culture (Strada 6). Globalization comes with both positive and negative aspects. One positive aspect of globalization is communication. With millions of people living all around the world it is much easier to keep in contact through technology. As modernity evolves new and more electronic devices are invented. According to a 2013 international telecoms union (ITU) world report there was 6.8 billion cell phone subscriptions at the end of 2012. Not only can people communicate through cell phones but also through varies of electronics like computers, webcam, television, electronic mail, and daily mail. Communicating with relatives, friends and for business inquires are important and helpful because they can receive information from one another. Another positive aspect of globalization is trade. Trade throughout globalization has brought both good and bad. Free trade is the process of trading goods, service and labor freely without having to pay additional for import and export (Trade and globalization).
