Abstract
This paper reviews the beneficial and harmful aspects to Genetically Modified Food that certain corporations are experimenting, producing, and selling. The results of each of these topics will be looked over and explained to an extent.
Introduction
Genetically modified foods are crop plants created for human or animal’s to consume. Special crops have been experimented with in laboratories by scientist to make these plants more nutritional and less vulnerable to diseases or insects. A purpose of these GMO’s is to be able to sustain life in the coming years because eventually the population of the world will reach a point in which food will become limited to those who need it.
Acknowledgments
I would like to thank Professor Zhan Yang for taking the time to inform, teach, help, instruct, care, and to make me more appreciative for biology and more concerned about what is being put into our body’s every day.

Body of my paper
What are the good benefits to these crops? Well they have the ability to withstand cold temperatures, instead of dying due to frost. Countless crops are destroyed yearly because they don’t have certain chemicals sprayed onto the crops to prevent insects or other creatures from destroying them. GMO crops are able to endure strong herbicide without them being destroyed. this can be useful for destroying unwanted plants like weeds. There are biologist who are experimenting with plants to make them resistant to plant diseases like bacteria and fungus this would result in less loss of produce. The world is limited to so much space and every day there is less room for farming so GMO crops are modified to be able to grow in places that are usually unable. These crops will be more nutritional, there is a lack of vitamins in certain countries such as Africa where they only eat one type of food, and this will result in lack of vitamins which can lead to health issues. There are researchers attempting to inject medicine and vaccines into specific foods to lower the cost of these desired Pharmaceutical needs.
What can be the downfall to these types of food? Well the consequence of eating them is unknown. GMO foods have not been proven healthy or to be a safe method of eating nutrients. There is possibly something in them that many people are allergic to, and if a portion of our daily food is genetically modified then the result could be a large amount of people becoming seriously ill. The fact that genetically modified food is not labelled shows that the people making these nourishments doesn’t want anyone to know exactly what is being injected into our daily food, and the only information that we know about genetically modified food has been twisted or hasn’t all been told.
My opinion of GM foods is for them and against them. I believe that in 40-60 years that population of the world will increase significantly, and the outcome of this would mean less land to produce crops, the land would be used for cities and towns for humanity. The ability for GMO foods to be produced faster than organic food would be the best way to sustain food on this planet before we turn to cannibalism. Although if we begin eating these types of foods, because we don’t know if it is harmful to our body then it is possible that we will all (or at least people who eat it) die from a virus or diseases that it creates, which leads to wonder if the companies making these “foods” are also making an antivirus to sell to everyone after become sick from it.
There are many health issues that arise with the thought of eating genetically modified food, researchers have done experiments testing the food on rats, and the results being that the rats had developed mammary tumors in their bodies. The chance of developing a tumor or cancer from just eating a carrot is not worth it in my opinion. Cancer isn’t the only serious sickness that can come from it, A study has been done by feeding cows genetically modified soybeans, eventually the milk that the cows had been producing have a very high content of fat, large populations of the world would become over weight. Not only is an increase of fat but it’s possible that the milk coming from cows is the cause for infants to have an allergic reaction, the percentage of children who are allergic to milk is very small and they eventually outgrow it but it may not only cause allergic reactions through milk, but the way GMO produce is made by the transfer of one organisms gene to another. This could cause an increase of allergic reactions, if we don’t know what is being put into our food, then the risk of having a reaction is fairly high. It is possible that if a certain gene is transferred from a harmful organism, then it could affect your brain in a way of causing a mental illness or even retardation.
Conclusion
My conclusion for this paper is that genetically modified food is harmful to humanity. We don’t know what is being put into produce that is being put on the shelves of supermarkets and stores. Companies aren’t telling us what it is, so there must be something unhealthy being put into the food. God created everything in the world then declared it good. To change the genetics of Gods creations would imply that we are not content with what God has given us.

Mostly, GMOs are done with agricultural crops and animals that are consumed for food. Food, most needed by humans, whom are the consumers. But because of the non-stop increase of the population, source of food became a problem. So they came up with these, genetically engineered crops. They can noticeably increase crop yields and also, reduce the use of chemical pesticides. The costs for food and drug production are reduced, the quality and the organisms’ composition are improved and it has greater food security for the growing population.…

Genetic modification has a variety of uses pure science, research, medicine, food production, agricultural innovation. Genes work by coding instructions for making proteins and proteins are the chemicals that have a strong influence on biological functions. GMO technology finds itself an enduring part of society, history and people. This is true because of the technology’s ability to integrate itself with wild populations and even contaminate conventional crops, well beyond the decision for farmers to halt the planting of GM crops. There will be a decrease in the products derived from GMOs.…

A few pros would have to be, Foods can be modified to have more essential vitamins and nutrients, or simply taste better. By doing this, the increase in variety, and convenience for foods allows others to get their needed vitamins, and nutrients from just plants rather than having to buy supplements. Genetically modified foods are part of our daily diet and reassuringly enough appear to be quite healthy for us. Some would see this as a plus because everyone is looking for new ways to be healthier and GMO's give you that option. There are no known health risks so it is a matter of belief whether or not you want to trust in genetically modified foods. If you are willing to try GMO's then you will be surprised to see that the downsides are very…

Genetically Modified Organisms, or GMOs, are organisms that have been created through the gene-splicing techniques of biotechnology Although GMOs have been around for many years, it wasn’t until just recently that people have become more concerned with them. However, many companies that produce genetically modified organisms, like Monsanto, try to make believe that the products they produce are healthy and beneficial for the environment; while that may be true first glance, lots of anti gmo activists believe that these companies scam people into believing false information. In this essay, we will uncover the pros and cons of these genetically modified organisms and ultimately, come to the conclusion that GMOs may have downfalls for humans and the environment, but are economically beneficial.…

Many opponents of genetically modified foods doubt the safety of those artificial foods. They are the products of people’s intelligence and creativeness, but compared to the eternal law of the nature, human knowledge is not always right. People make mistakes, and sometimes they do not notice about these mistakes until the problems arise. Though developers and manufacturers make sure that there are various advantages of consuming genetically modified foods, due to the potential genetic defects or problems in these foods, they may still damage humans' bodies and undermine the environment. Regarding their benefits such as variation of food choice and the decrease of the cost of food production, genetically modified foods do bring improvements to our…

Have you ever heard about the term of genetically-modified foods (GM foods)? Or have you ever seen this kind of foods, like GM tomatoes, in the market? GM foods are the foods that contain the genes transferred from other plant or non-plant organisms. It might be the most controversial topic in the world now. In the article “The False Promise of GMOs”, Joe Pedretti wrote about the argument about the GM foods.…

Genetic Modification (GM) or Genetic Engineering (GE) is the process of manipulating genomes from an organism, such as plants and animals, to another using the techniques of biotechnology. Genetic modified foods are created from the procedures of genetic engineering and play an important role in the society’s lifestyle. GM foods can be both beneficial and disadvantageous to the society and environment. It can be advantageous as it can improve agricultural production, help improve nutrition in the body and also contribute to medical research. However it can also be disadvantageous as it may harm organisms in the environment, be a factor of human illnesses and its cost inefficiency.…

Genetically Modified Organisms, also known as GMOs, are “living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering,” (The Non-GMO Project). While genetic engineering has the capability of being beneficial to our society, The Non-GMO Project argues that it “creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacteria and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods,” (The Non-GMO Project). GMOs are very prevalent in our contemporary food industry; The Non-GMO Project website states that “in the U.S., GMOs are in as much as 80% of conventional processed food,” (The Non-GMO Project). My opinion on GMOs is bias. I say that GMOs are good because they food is made and delivered quicker because if we the world was extremely against GMOs then the food you bought would last as long. Therefore if you look more into this the world could starve for how much time people would wait for the normal fruit/vegetable to delivered. Also if you were waiting for the food you ordered you wouldn't get as much of an amount than when the fruit had been through a process with GMOs.…

The controversial issue of genetically modified foods, commonly known as GM’s, has only gained the attention of millions, since it became a prominent and highly debated global issue. Genetically modified foods are created when the genes of an organism are engineered and modified to create a new or enhanced version of that organism. The process of using different genes from different sources to genetically modify foods led to public outcry and sometimes, praise. People in support of genetically modified foods claims it will enhance the quality of the food, improve the food’s resistance to pests and other harmful elements, lower food costs, and also increase food security for the future. However, those opposed to genetically modified foods claim…

pro: Crop losses from insect pest result devastating financial loss for farmers and starvation in developing countries. To solve this problem farmers have to use tons of chemical pesticides every year. Consumers do not want to eat food that has pesticide on it because it can be very harmful to our body. Plus using pesticide can cause environmental pollution. So growing gmo that does not demands pesticide can eliminate the use of chemical substance (=pesticide 중복되서;;;ㅠ). Plus gmo plants genetically made to be resistant to weed-killer which helps to reduce production cost and waste. Plus gmo can be developed in an extreme environment and reduce timing of the harvest or increase the amount of production to solve food shortage. Plus it is tolerant to cold, drought and salinity too. Because of sudden weather change, unexpected frost can destroy the harvest, but gmo has antifreeze gene to bear cold weather. Also farmers grow crops in locations that used to be unsuited for plant cultivation. GMO can be cultivated anywhere including inhospitable places. FDA has already reported to put every product if it has more than 3% of gmo. If FDA says that lower than 3 % of gmo does not have to be labeled, that means lower than 3% of gmo does not effect to our bodies. Therefore, we don’t need to worry about health issues. People have fixed-idea about gmo being noxious for our body which causes consumers not to buy gmo food if we label them. But actually it is not true. Safety is not guaranteed but that does not mean it is harmful. (People are keep testing.)…
