Goal Setting Worksheet

Review this week’s resources (for example SMART criteria, and the Career Plan Building Activities). Respond to the following in 50 to 100 words each:

1. Describe one academic goal that you have created using the SMART criteria. How do SMART criteria contribute to your academic goals?

One academic goal I’ve created using the SMART criteria is trying to submit all assignments on time. The SMART criteria contributes to my academic goal by teaching me to keep myself positive. Even though I may come to a bump in the road, SMART teaches me to stay humble and tell myself that I can do it, I can achieve any goal(s) I set for myself.

2. Describe one professional/career goal you have created using the SMART criteria and Career Plan Building Activities results. How did the results of the Career Interest Profiler and Career Plan Building Activity on Competencies contribute to your professional goal development?

One professional/career goal I have created using the SMART criteria and Career Plan Building Activities result was to find at least three or four people in the Healthcare Administration field, get their general outlook of the field, and see if any volunteer work is available. By doing this I will gain much knowledge, and get a chance to experience what I plan to do as my dream job.

3. Describe the stress and time-management strategies you have learned this week that will help you achieve your goals.

This week I’ve learned to schedule myself to achieve any goals I set. I learned to make schedules for everything for the week and attempt to follow them. With never knowing how or what will happen throughout the week especially being eight months pregnant, writing everything down always help. For instance, to help me achieve my participation points and my discussion question responses credit, I write my responses to the discussion

Honestly, while I was getting the smart and focus two assignment done I imagined myself setting up different types of goals and not achieving any of them. The reason I predicted this was because usually when set an objective for myself it usually backfires as a result of me not being very motivated. Nevertheless, I gave these tasks a chance to hopefully learn new strategies for the future to manage my academic and, in the long run, my career. In addition while I usually fail at achieving my goal I hoped that this new strategy would help me create a more realistic goal.…

I am a firm believer that in order to best choose what to do with your life, you must first know who you are in life. Self-awareness can help create a happy, balanced, and fulfilled existence on a personal and professional level. This can equate to success on both sides of the spectrum. HCS/449, Health Care Capstone has helped me understand this statistic more clearly and it will be etched in my psyche for years to come. I will aim to expand on this knowledge of self and how I may effectively convey it to the world around me; specifically the world of health care on a management level. I am a: hard worker, high performer, fast past learner, self-starter, team player, and work well under pressure. I am a motivator by choice and possess keen communication skills. I was lastly employed in the health care industry in 2010, to pursuit a BSHA and will return to the industry as a more valuable asset. My extreme passion is sometimes misread as aggression and I am strategically learning to control my passion to fit my environment. The objective of this essay is to answer: what my professional goals are, what job I plan to have in the health care sector, what skills I currently have for this job, which skills I need to change or alter, my plan for ultimately achieving my professional goals, what professional organizations can help me achieve these goals, and what benefit does the career action plan outline?…

It’s about how specific your goals need to be, because you need to know what you really want and when, it also talks about your goals need to be measurable, attainable, that is to say you need to make sure your goals are achievable, you have to be sure on what you really want, you have to feel confident on what you choose. Time is also important when setting goals. You do not have to rush yourself. Your goals need to be relevant, but if you rush yourself you’ll set them wrong.
