Goals Of The Prison System

The prison system is to safeguard the public by removing criminals. American citizens’ make sure criminals are punished for their actions. Prisons are meant to punish criminals but locking them up does not work to help with criminal behavior. It is vital that effective interventions help offenders to reintegrate into the community and prevent more criminality. As a Behavioral Health Counselor II, my aim is to promote rehabilitation programs for all offenders even aftercare programs once released from prison. I focus on introducing programs and policies that will help prisoners successfully reintegrate back into their communities.
