Going Abroad to Study
When people's standard of living improves, they often think about increasing their knowledge so they can have a better life. To do that, they choose to study in foreign countries where they can get a progressive education. However, everything has its positives and negatives, and studying abroad is no exception.
Firstly, going abroad to study takes us to a different culture and environment. We can meet people who come from many countries with different points of view. Moreover, we are exposed to new system of values and experienced a new way of life. For example, if you study in a foreign country, you will study their good habits, such as: punctuality, teamwork, responsibility, problem solving and so on. These skills help us more confident to contact with many strangers. Secondly, we have new experiences in our fields that students at home do not. That is we have the opportunity to use foreign language in real life situations. I think nothing is better than to learn language with the native speakers. Because we can practice with the local people what we study at school, so it is very useful to improve our listening, speaking and understanding skills. Thirdly, we have an opportunity to study new technologies and most recent science achievements.In addition, we are equipped with the valuable and updated knowledge which may help us find jobs easily after graduating. On the other hand, we have to overcome many problems of culture shock. First of all, adapting to a new environment is a real challenge for every foreign student. While changing the weather can affect our health, different cultures and customs may influence our mind and make us become less confident or even a victim of discrimination. Secondly, everyday may turn into a struggle for survival in a strange country, we may feel depressed and homesick.
