The Golden Age of Islam Description: The Golden Age of Islam is usually dated from the mid-7th century to around the mid-13th century. During this period the Muslims flourished and they established one of the largest empires in all of history. This period is believed to have begun during the reign of Harun al-Rashid; a Abbasid caliph. His reign lasted from 786 to 809. The Golden Age of Islam also brought us what we know today as Hospitals. Hospitals at the time were the first to require any type of medical diploma or degree in order to liscense doctors. These Islamic hospitals had the will to treat anyone despite their financial status. These hospitals also had open doors for women, children, and non-muslims. Another great innovation that came along during this period is the crank. The Crank allowed heavy objects to be lifted with ease, by linear motion. This kind of technology was discovered by Al-Jazari in the 12th century.

I think this because nearly everyone likes coffee and drinks coffee everyday. Also, the creation of the Hospital is just amazing because many lives get saved everyday and also many lives are brought into this world everyday thanks to the hospital. Also, the Muslims were the first to create the toothbrush but, its not how it is today though. Instead using bristles they used a twig from the Meswak tree. The substances from the Meswak tree are similar to what are used in modern toothpaste. I think this is one of the best innovations from this time period because Toothbrushes helped prevent many gum diseases, cavities, and many other mouth isses by a simple brushing of the teeth.
