Good Grammar: Good Or Bad?

Certain employers say it’s important to them that their workers exhibit good grammar. But, is bad grammar a valid reason to bar someone from a job? I don’t think so. Not if the job doesn’t require writing. Grammar does not indicate someone’s intelligence or attention to detail, but rather one’s education and upbringing. People that were raised in disadvantaged communities are unfairly excluded from jobs because of grammar. Very intelligent people may be stopped from jobs because they grew up in a community that did not provide them with the resources to learn proper English grammar. I would call it stupid if someone would not hire the best computer programmer just because he can’t tell the difference between “to” and “too”. There are
