Science has evolved over the years. New machines have been invented over the past years which make it easier for scientist and their experiments. John M. Barry author of The Great Influenza specifically targets scientist and their research. Costica Bradatan, in his essay “Why Try Anything? A Meditation on Procrastination” (09.18.2016), suggests that procrastination is the result of “an anxiety of creation,” and that a procrastinator’s inaction is the result of being, “smitten by the perfect picture of that which is yet to be born.” Bradatan supports this claim by aligning the act of procrastination with a series of examples – historical (an anecdote about a mosque architect who, at thought of his design decaying with time, couldn’t bare to have his creation built), religious (early Gnostics who believed “the highest attribute of divinity is in its inexistence”), and philosophical (E.M. Cioran who believed “the catastrophe of birth” is worse than death). Bradatan’s purpose is…

Diseases that are planted in animals are never identical to the diseases humans face. It’s very unlikely that the research conducted will even be correctly interpreted and applied to humans. Dr. Richard Klausner the former director of the National Cancer Institute said, "We have cured mice of cancer for decades, and it simply didn't work on humans." Since scientist won't readily admit failure, the public doesn't know about the ineffective tests conducted on animals. (Noel Merino) Animal experimentation can be good or bad depending on how it’s viewed.…

In spite of this difference, many people believe we Hispanics could have become as successful as the European immigrants. So why haven’t we? For one thing, by the time Hispanics grew in numbers in the United States, the economy was no longer labor-intensive. Hispanics have lacked not “a strong back and a willingness to work,” but the opportunity to capitalize on them. Then, unlike the European immigrants who went west and were able to buy land, Hispanics arrived here after homesteading had passed. But a more fundamental reason exists: racism. Hispanics are considered a nonwhite race, regardless of the fact that many of us are of the white race. Our ethnic difference has been officially construed as a racial difference: In government, businesses, and school forms, “Hispanic” is one of the choices under the category race. (48)…

In the past, scientists have done very unwise and unimaginable experiments with humans as the test subject. Like in 1932, the public health service was working to find treatment for syphilis in the african american race. They had 600 black men, 399 with syphilis and 201 that did not have the disease. Without the patient's knowing that they were contracted with syphilis, scientists told the men that they were being treated for “bad blood”. But really they were not given the right treatment to cure their illness. Also in exchange the men received free medical exams, free meals, and burial insurance, which is like life insurance. But in 1968 this research raised concern for peter buxton and others, so they wrote a news article about what these…

You should know that some medical frauds are simply con artists. Some medical fraud is simply a con artist looking for a quick pay off, so you must know how to spot a con man. You also have to understand that many medical frauds are victims themselves. Many people who push bad medicine believe that they are actually helping because they have been fooled themselves by someone else. With these people the standard methods of spotting a con artist will not work because they honestly want to help. You should always check for the phrase "cure-all". If a person tells you something is a cure-all 99% of the time it is actually a cure-nothing. Real medicine recognizes that each disease is unique and so there is no single procedure or substance that can cure all. Check for a single cause theory will also help. The corollary to the cure-all fraud is the single cause theory. This is simply the claim that all diseases and conditions can be explained by a single cause. Common examples of this fraud include unbalanced energy or toxins.…

Atul Gawande, respected surgeon and author, understands this concept well and works to encourage the public to trust in testing a hypothesis no matter how profound. Through utilizing the strategies of incorporating personal experience, rhetorical questions, and a motivational tone, Gawande’s article, The Mistrust of Science, pushes readers to face challenges without a doubt.…

As the research subject voluntarily or involuntarily enters into the unknown, the doctor must follow in their footsteps, embracing fear and inaccuracy before anything else. Scientific research can be risky for all, but if it is successful, it could mean justice for millions. Not only do the doctors and subjects tip-toe into the void, but the whole world follows behind to watch them fall, get back up -or fail. Scientific research is a tool that can be used to create strength and reliability for the future. As hills are climbed, crests are reached and bigger hills are waiting in the presence, research is present for ranges of world problems. Scientific research can offer a solution to world problems that are both social and medical, thus…

Sometimes careless science publishing can weaken the public’s confidence in science and the government. The Media is enormously powerful and leading and will influence people’s opinions on everything. There are plenty of stories in the media that will change the public’s perception of science or even make them see a new perception. Sometimes these stories are just written to scare the public into believing a certain thing just so they can sell their stories.…

The last and most obvious statement which says that science is right is Evolution. Evolution is a scientific theory that explains the origins of humanity and its development. Evolution is where a living organism adapts and evolves to become less primitive, and more likely to survive. It is NOT random. Not a single living organism that has ever been discovered shows any sign whatsoever of having evolved by non-Darwinian means. Evolution…

In Human Society International it states that 9/10 candidate medicines that appear safe and effective in animal studies fail when given to humans. This shows that every 10 experiments done on animals only 1 will work. This also shows that animals are being killed even if the experiment doesn’t work. In the UK an estimated 70,000 people are killed or severely disabled every year by unexpected reactions to drugs. All these drugs have passed animal tests (Human Society International). This shows that animal testing isn’t reliable if the medicines that are approved are killing people who are taking them. This is important because if the medicines are killing people that have been tested on animals, their should be a new way to make sure they’re safe. This shows that animal testing is useless and there should be another way to make sure drugs are safe before giving them to…
