Because Gordon was not confident, and was afraid on what people will say about him he missed the shot and his team lost. He was no confident enough to face the people around him and he quit hockey. This shows what low confidence can do to us and affect our performance. If Gordon was confident and sees himself a champion we would have scored the shot and won the title. If he had a better self- image it would have increased his confidence which ultimately will increase his performance to reach his goal. At the beginning of the movie, when Gordon started teaching the game. He asked them to show him their skills, they said we are not good and we will never win. They had a self-bad image and low confidence, they didn’t listen to what the coach was saying and kept on losing games. In the first two games, they lost their motivation to continue and self-imaged themselves as weak unskilled players and surrendered to the fact that they won’t be able to win any games. After the first two games, Gordon became their friend, he got them new hockey gear and a nice uniform and he changed the team’s name from zone five to the ducks.
