I'm six years old, and I'm secretly watching the girls in my class loudly chatting in the corner of the classroom. It's 2008, and I'm quietly sitting on my desk, wondering to myself: "Am I not important enough for a simple goodbye?". I nervously shift on the chair, impatiently waiting for the minutes to tick by. My red sweater is itching against my throat. The teacher came in and we begin class as usual. Ms. Claudia is talking about our final reflections…

It was a normal morning at Wilson Middle School, for my friends and I. We all were just excited for the day because it was Friday. With me was, Brittany, Kirsten, Titi, Chloe, Ethan, and Lake. That wasn't all who was in the class, but that is who I was standing with. After homeroom, I came to Mrs.Grabel’s room. The class was loud for a while, but when the bell rang, we were all in our seats silent, because we didn’t want to make Mrs.Grabel mad. However, when we sat there, we realized Mrs.Grable wasn’t there. We all got really worried because she is always on top of her game. Then, something very strange happened.…

I walked into the classroom to see all my new pupils, I was nervous at first but then Miss Maudie introduced me to the class and everything was fine. I wrote my name on the board and told them what it said and where I am from. The class just murmured back to me. I started the day by reading the children a story about cats, I think they liked it but then again some of them did seem immune to imaginative literature. After reading I went to the blackboard and printed the alphabet in large capitals. I wasn’t surprised that everyone knew what they were seeing as most of the first grade had failed last year and where now back again for me to teach them.…

We've seen numerous of girls and the counselors all just talking to each other. All that at that point in my head I was asking myself, “What have I gotten myself into?”. Questions rushing through my head. The counselor greeted me and told me, “Hello, welcome you are welcome to grab a slice of pizza and anything you like and please take your seats afterwards.” After we grabbed our food Ariana and I took our seats. After a while they told us to quiet down. Jason told us everything about the Ophelia project and what was it about and how it could help us in our future. After they told us what it was about we played a little activity where we got to meet new people. I was nervous to talk to other people. Just the idea of it I wanted to zoom out of the classroom. After that activity one of the mentors was handing out packets for our parents to fill out if we'd liked to join.…

“Hello,” said a kind face to me as I entered my first eighth-grade class at a new school. “Hello,” I said back, not knowing how to take the gesture. I walked into a classroom full of new faces. Everyone was gawking at the new kid. I thought to myself, “is it what I’m wearing? Do I look weird? Should I say something?” I did nothing but go to my assigned seat, and sat quietly just like I did on the bus months prior. As I sat in silence, I listened intently as the teacher floated across the room while calling roll. When I heard my name called, I tried to muster up the courage to address myself in a casual way, but I’m sure that it came out as a nervous “here.” As she finished roll call, each student was handed a mountain of forms and papers. Then the class slowly transformed into a parade of shouts and laughter. Everyone was welcoming each other back, except for me. I sat there in silence examining everyone.…

It was a sunny day in August when I nervously started 6th grade at a new school named MSA, a charter school located in Santa Clara, with less than 500 people including middle and high school. I started off with several challenges: making sure to achieve straight As, trying to form new friendships, and being in a new environment.…

By Friday of that week we were moved into a small apartment in Oak Grove and starting at Sacred Heart on Monday. I hadn’t eaten since Wednesday from all the stress and tears that I couldn’t make go away no matter what I tried. My first day was all a blur, I rarely ate anymore, attempting to fix what I thought was “wrong with me”. Sixth grade was over and I made some nice friends and thankfully the bullying and name calling stopped but the piercing thoughts stayed with me.…

New adventures always tend to make me a bit skittish, and my first skating lesson was no exception. I was instructed to put on my skates and to wait patiently on the side of the skating rink floor. After a short while the skating instructor introduced herself as Ms. Jones and then proceed to give important details about the skating lessons. While standing and waiting for the lessons to begin there were a couple of late arrivals to the class. I was happy now because for a moment I thought that I was the only student in the class. Embarrassment sets in now I’m the oldest member of the class. My skating class was now filled with students under the age of twelve years old. Lord, what have I gotten myself into now?…

First day of class I instantly felt that the situation would be different in this class. When I saw the teacher, I could tell he was going to be more serous than any of my other teachers just by the way he looked and presented himself. As I looked around the classroom I noticed that I already knew some of the kids sitting down. They all had something in common as well; they had always been known as the smart students because they were always getting good grades and what not. This really got me a bit worried that I might not be able to keep up. I felt I was in way over my head on this.…

I can still remember the first day I stepped foot into first grade. So much so, I remember it like it was yesterday. The sun was shining, the wind was slightly blowing and I had the biggest smile on my face. I was extremely excited, yet nervous, for my first day of school. Now thinking about it, there was no need to be nervous because my teacher gave each one of us a warm welcome, and as soon as I said goodbye to my mother, Mrs Otterson gave me the biggest hug and said, “Welcome to first grade!” Since that moment, I knew I was going to enjoy her class. There was something about her that made me feel comfortable; Maybe it was because she was like a mother. I liked Mrs Otterson’s class so much that when the day would come to an end, I would get sad because I didn’t want to leave.…

In CKCM, we have the full blast of teaching force, headed by Sister Christy as the high school principal for this school year. (NOTE: The names that I will further mention are not in a specific order.) We have here Ma’am Dapat, the very silent teacher, I guess. She’s cute but she smiles so seldom. I didn’t get the chance to talk to her even once just like Ma’am Onga. Ma’am Placencia is also one of the faculty. She’s really cute when she smiles. It’s like she loses her eyes everytime she smiles. I do not know what subject she’s teaching though. We also have Ma’am Han, the singer. I know her for a long time because she graduated at the same school but we aren’t close. She is a MAPEH teacher and I bet she’s good at the subject as well because I can see that she’s intelligent and talented. Another MAPEH teacher is Sir Dagi. He is the moderator of the Dance Troupe. He dances well. I don’t talk to him often. We have Ma’am Catherine too. I like her vibes when she gets into our room to substitute any of our subject teacher when absent. She smiles a lot too and we’ve been together in a fieldtrip just recently. The ever “cutie patootie” Ma’am Ching Chang, an adviser of one of the sections of the 8th grade. She’s beautiful and really talkative. She has been our English teacher for two school years now. We’ve been through a lot of misunderstandings along with the class before. We even made her cry and that’s regretful for our part. An adviser of the 8th grade’s first section, he is Sir Jeff. (We use to call him “Pader Jeep” because he wanted to become a priest, he said.) He was our Math teacher…
