Grabel Games Narrative Report
The Grabel Games
It was a normal morning at Wilson Middle School, for my friends and I. We all were just excited for the day because it was Friday. With me was, Brittany, Kirsten, Titi, Chloe, Ethan, and Lake. That wasn't all who was in the class, but that is who I was standing with. After homeroom, I came to Mrs.Grabel’s room. The class was loud for a while, but when the bell rang, we were all in our seats silent, because we didn’t want to make Mrs.Grabel mad. However, when we sat there, we realized Mrs.Grable wasn’t there. We all got really worried because she is always on top of her game. Then, something very strange happened.
Then, all of a sudden the whiteboard lit up. The projector came on and Mrs.Grabel came on the screen. She told us

I called my group into the room. Mrs.Grabel sent Chloe to go and tell the others to come down. She told us that we were lucky we got down there first because now we get to choose our teams. She said that we could pick one partner for the games. I was very confused on why she said games, but I just went along with it. Of course me and Brittany teamed up, and then Kirsten and Titi teamed up. Once everyone got down there, she finally explained what was going on. She said “Welcome to The Grabel Games!” Everyone looked around at each other in confusion. Then, she told us the real meaning of the …show more content…
Brittany shot at Lake, and got him. Lake had to go sit on the bench. The paintball hurt really bad, at least that's what he said. Brittany and I love Shawn so much that we had to win for him. Ethan was the only one left on the other team, so both of us made a plan. We shot Ethan at the same time with the paintball gun, and we got him. We won and we were so happy. We had to save Shawn’s live because we love him so much. Mrs.Grable told us that we had 15 minutes to win this if we wanted to save Shawn. Since we won the first game, we had to sit and wait for Kirsten and Titi, to go up against Chloe and Lily. This time they weren't using paintball guns. Both teams lined up, and waited for Mrs.Grabel to say go, but this time is different. They had materials they could use that were lined up in a line. Then Mrs.Grabel said,

Have you ever had so much fun, every minute feels like a second? That’s how I felt when I was with my friend Ethan and Caden. We went to Golf n’ Stuff. As we arrived, Mr. Smith, (Ethan’s Dad) registered for us. We had a choice between bumper cars and bowling, or mini golfing. We obviously chose mini golfing because we were at Golf n’ Stuff. We got to choose our clubs and balls: I chose purple, Caden chose green, and Ethan chose red. There was a ball cleaner which was like a new invention to us .It was about three feet with a flap on the top. We just kept putting our ball in and pulling the trigger. Of course the ball got super wet, but we didn’t care. This is really cool, we all thought.…

Mrs. Snyder passed tests out and flipped mine over when she placed it on my desk. I flip over and read the paper. It says “PARENT CONFERENCE MONDAY NIGHT AT 7:00 PM.” I looked at the grade and my heart dropped, it was a F. I hear the bell ring and I was so mad at myself I just put my test away and stomped out of the room. That night, I heard my parent’s car pull in after school. “I have to show them, I have to.” As they walk through the door, I hand my test to them and explained what happened. I felt my heart drop and felt total regret for what I did. “I’m taking your electronics away!” my mom yelled, “Go to your room. Think about your imprudent decisions!” The whole house was quiet that night. It was Monday morning, school is back already. In 1st period, Mrs. Snyder announces that there will be a new unit test next monday and there will be a study guide passed around today. Mrs Snyder comes next to my desk. “Here is a chance to redeem yourself. Don’t forget about the meeting tonight.” That night, my parents drove to the meeting. That was the worst 45 minutes of my life. They came out furious and had faces of disappointment. To my luck, there was no lecture…

On the first day of seventh grade, I met the woman who changed my behavior and view on school. That day, in my supplemental skills class, I wasn’t following anything that my teacher said and she noticed. She called me to her desk and started to have a conversation with me. She knew me, but I had no idea who she was other than the name on the plaque. She said she was the head of a camp that I used to go to and that my…

While I was waiting, I looked around, and from the window, the sky became darker and darker as the cloud covered the last sunlight. I couldn’t breathe. In about twenty minutes, most parents were there. Then the head teacher started to talk about how seriously we did. She told in front of all these people: “she was the one who cheated teachers and brought her friends out of school. We teachers are responsible for your children’s safety in the school. But who is responsible for that once they are out? Jasmine, can you?” I was shocked. I did not think about that the teacher would blame me for all of this. Everyone in the office was staring at me, and my parents as well. I was ashamed, so ashamed that I wanted to hide, and I can’t stop my tears out. The teacher continued and talked to all of students: “I believed you because you are fifth grade. I thought you are old enough to distinguish right or wrong. But now, I am really disappointed at you guys.” We were still in elementary school, and we were so young to comfort ourselves in this situation. Most of the girls in our group began to sob like me.…

“This match is boring, let’s go outside and do something while we wait for the Mayweather v. McGregor fight.” Khialeo said, as we were all sitting down watching TV. “Like what?” I said, “how about play hide and seek in the dark?” suggested Marc. We all agreed, and quickly ran up the stairs and out the front door. As soon as I arrived outside, I could smell the fresh air, and feel the warm summer breeze flowing past me. When we got onto the driveway, we decided who was going to be the first one to be it. “Alright, Jeremiah will be it first” said Khialeo, then we told him to count to thirty. As Jeremiah started counting, Khialeo and I bolted across the street and into my yard. We ran through some big trees that were standing on the side of my…

In each event, ten people broke into finals, but only the top six would qualify for Nationals. The murmur of conversation ceased abruptly as the announcer appear on stage, apparition like in her swiftness. This was the moment hordes of students were waiting for. Announced first were speeches, followed by solo events, followed by interpretation events. Duo was penultimate event announced, followed only by sweepstake awards. Sitting through the other events only elevated the suspense we felt. When the tournament host’s amplified voice echoed through the room, saying “Duo on deck”, Emma and I joined the line of high school competitors waiting to mount the stage and hear how they placed. The announcer waved us up, and the finalists shuffled up the stairs to stand in front of everyone. The host read off the names of the duo that received tenth, ninth, and eighth place, with applause breaking out after each proclamation. Naturally, next came seventh. Seventh place is the place no one desires, because it means you were almost skilled enough for nationals, but not quite up to par. Placing seventh is like earning a 59% in a class you absolutely need to pass. The silence before the revelation of seventh place was uncanny. You could've heard a pin drop as the announcer said “And seventh place goes to… Haupt and Price.” The crowd applauded, but I'm pretty sure it never registered for either of us. We had worked so hard to get ourselves to this point, but we were a few points away from actually qualifying. The team left qualifiers feeling disappointed and melancholy, with a sense of malaise resting over the Suburbans as we drive…

The object of the game is to knock down all the bowling pins on the other team’s side. Mr. Dunn had the children line up and he split them into two groups. One group stood on a line on the far side of the gym and the other group stood on a line closer to the door. Each student got one bowling pin and was told to guard it. They could not touch the pin or stand in front of it, but they could knock balls out of the way with their hands when they were thrown at the pins by the opposing team. No student was allowed to cross the line so there was a wide space in between the two teams. Mr. Dunn dumped a huge bag of dodge balls in the middle of the floor and chose two students from each team to be the scuba divers. The students who were scuba divers for…

Now, I realize I am extremely late for Math class and walk at a faster pace to my locker. Just as I turn around, I notice I have lost Mrs. Leone. A wave of relief comes over me. I feel a tap on my shoulder and I jump about a mile until I realize it was just my friend, Amanda. "Lisa, are you out of your mind? You are in so much trouble! Mrs. Leone is looking everywhere for you!" says Amanda. I shrug it off. I mean how long can she possibly look for me. I decide not to go to first period as I may be called out if she looks up my schedule. So, I head towards the cafeteria, again with my body up against the walls. I definitely cannot take a chance of her watching me on camera. She may be able to find me that way. Now you must realize I am a professional when it comes to dodging these cameras, I have been doing this for over three years now! So anyways, I go sit in the cafeteria until my next class starts. Amanda comes to tell me again that she overheard Mrs. Leone talking and I am in major trouble now seeing how I missed first period. I quietly think to myself "Oh no, I really am in trouble. Can she not just leave me alone already? Move on to the next suspect."…

    Troubled Note

It was another warm day in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where others and I are in class learning Math, Science or English. My day was different from the three or four hundred students at Patton Junior High, very different. In English class, I sat two tables from Ms. Pam. It was group project day and I was paired with Quintin Barnes and Megan Vanderham. “Ugh, Ms. Pam I do not like him,” yells Megan from across the room. She gives both Quintin and Ms. Pam the “eye.” “Oh well, you are working with a group or by yourself Ms. Vanderham and you and I both know you cannot afford that, ”Ms. Pam snarled. The whole class, including myself started to laugh. Megan quietly sat down with a red painted face and started to write. You could tell she was upset. The whole class period she did not participate in the group assignment. I glanced over my shoulder wondering what she was writing. I became even more intrigued once I saw the note was addressed to “you know who” Quintin. As the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, Megan handed me the note and asked me if I could give it to Quintin. She said it was very important. “Sure, why not; I mean our lockers are right next to each other,” I replied willingly. As I edged over to my locker, I was tempted to be nosey and read the note but decided against it. But what happened next made me wish I never agreed to deliver that note.…
