Granville Allen
Granville Allen was born in 1910, in Kansas City, Missouri. Granville was the 7th person ever to be executed at the Missouri State Penitentiary. He was executed at age 28 on October 28th, 1938. Granville lived with his mother and some other relatives.
Granville Allen was convicted in the Jackson County Circuit Court on the murder of Howard Preston. He shot Preston to death after he searched Preston's pants and then threatened to mistreat Preston’s son and wife. Preston’s son then grabbed the gun from Allen, and shot Allen as he fled the scene. Allen was later captured near the scene on the night of October 20th, 1936. Granville had not ever been in any other legal
trouble before murdering Preston. He also didn’t intend to kill Preston at first, but his robbery went wrong. Granville’s murder of Preston landed him on death row at the Missouri State Penitentiary, and he was executed 2 years after being held in cell house B.
Granville Allen didn’t have a last meal or any final requests. He was very quiet in his time at the Missouri State Penitentiary. He was taken from cell house B to the execution room about an hour before his death. During that time he said nothing at all. He was strapped into the chair at 12:04, it took 4 minutes to get him fully strapped in. The chemicals were mixed, and he was dead by 12:11.
