Simple drawings became pictographs , and pictographs became standardized within each culture beginning the history of handwriting.

How would you communicate with letters? Well, the Mesopotamians paved the way with the invention of cuneiform. Cuneiform was developed over 5000 years ago (Doc. 1). It was the first written language ever recorded (Doc. 1). The Sumerians would use a metal tool, called a stylus, to write on clay tablets (OI). They used cuneiform to keep records, document business dealings, and pass…

1025 Reading 14: Dimensions of Personality: The Biosocial Approach to Personality – Hans. J Eysenck 1. If we look at both the biology and environment of an individual when assessing their personality you could gain insight to possible causes, triggers and reach a deeper evaluation of the person. For example, a person may be a pessimist and have anger problems because he/she got it from their parents or because they were brought up in a rough household where he/ she was exposed to violence constantly.…

I strongly believe that preparation and prior planning are the basics and foundation of good decisions and success. Without preparation there would be no success. In sports, teams practice 5-6 times a week before there next game making sure they are in the best shape they can possibly be. Running their routes over and over again creating muscle memory, and fluidity. Prior planning is also very important. Without proper prior planning, there would be no success. We have a saying in the United States Marine Corps; Prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance. Also known as the 6’s. To give a few examples of prior planning would be; thinking up a gear list for your junior marines for an up and coming field…

Japanese culture has always had a unique view on handwriting and was viewed as an art throughout their history. The Pillow Book looks at handwriting as a rather menial task though, a skill that need not be perfected in order to be a man (Shonagon 43). However, Kenko looks at handwriting as a form of masculinity, a way to show appreciation for the art work that is the language (Kenko 105). The little things that take much precision to perform become tasks that people must take great pride in order to be a member of Kamakura society. Writing letters was the only form of communication, and if you had bad hand writing it was also in poor taste to have someone compose a letter for you (Kenko 33). Taking pride in…

More recent[when?] analyses show that letter frequencies, like word frequencies, tend to vary, both by writer and by subject. One cannot write an essay about x-rays without using frequent Xs, and the essay will have an especially strange letter frequency if the essay is about the frequent use of x-rays to treat zebras in Qatar. Different authors have habits which can be reflected in their use of letters. Hemingway's writing style, for example, is visibly different from Faulkner's. Letter, bigram, trigram, word frequencies, word length, and sentence length can be calculated for specific authors, and used to prove or disprove authorship of texts, even for authors whose styles are not so divergent.…
