farm located in England that is run by Mr Jones who is harsh and more often than not drunk. The
story tells of how the animals overthrow Mr Jones and their revolution, including all the struggles
they endured along the way. Amongst many of the themes that Orwell discusses Greed, Pride and
Power are quite notable.
Greed can be defined as an intense and selfish desire for something, especially with wealth,

A symbol of Power in Animal Farm is Napoleon. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin who
lead the Soviet Union from 1930 until he died in1953. Napoleon (Stalin) didn't care about the other
animals (people), all he wanted was to have complete power over every single person in Animal
Farm (Russia). The way this power was achieved was by manipulation, threats and killing anyone
who posed a threat to their power.
Orwell shows Power as something that will change people for the worst.
In Animal Farm Orwell is saying that although revolution and change is a good thing, you
need to be prepared to pay the price because many people will suffer until balance is found. Greed
is displayed as a part of human nature, that unfortunately can never be stopped. Pride is shown as a
wonderful thing, however many people will be hurt as everyone wants to have this satisfying
feeling. Lastly, Power is something that many men will fight for some to the death, but ultimately
