Greek Tribe Short Story

As I help the other women gather plants and roots, and other small herbs, screams and cries erupt from the nearby shore. The women and children around myself share concerned looks, before one of the children takes off running in the direction of the yells. After a couple of seconds some of the other women and children follow her lead. I take off running after them and hear the shouts grow louder closer to the shore. Leaves whip across my face as they swing back from the running the women ahead of me. I smack them out of the way before seeing a large group of women and men peering out from the foliage out into the sandy seaside. The men are gathered together arguing back and forth. I push my way past them to see what they are pointing at. Half
They shout at each other in a language I do not understand as they drag their boats onto dry land. One man seems to be the leader of the rest, as he commands the others on what to do. The men he barks orders to go to the boats and drag out packs and other items unrecognizable to myself. Their clothing, is drastically dissimilar to the attire the tribe wears, along with the items they take out of the boats. I find myself curious to see what differs from our culture to theirs, but I’m hesitant and a bit distrustful of these new settlers. Up until that moment, the existence of my tribe and other neighboring tribes had been all any of us had known. While we had a mutual understanding with many of them, we also had disagreements with several. These men could mean an entire new supply of foes who could be well equipped with superior weapons and supplies, yet at the same time, they could benefit us against the rival tribes. If they did provide assistance and supplies, we could manage to find a way to coexist together, but as the men noticed us and began to approach us I couldn’t help but feel nervous at what was to
