What compares a monster and all-around hero? The monster in this story, Grendel, is a big and powerful creature that destroys the village and people of Danes. However, Beowulf is a hero that everyone looks up to because of his great, powerful, and courageous actions. After all, the two are similar because they both fought to destroy each other. So, what else distinguish the similarities between Grendel and Beowulf? Grendel and Beowulf are similar because they both fought for what they believe in, both are greedy for what they seek from the village, and both are powerful against each other. Primarily, Grendel and Beowulf both wanted to destroy each other because of what they believed in. No matter how the people of Danes tried to ignore Grendel always hated the village for one reason. Grendel came from ancestors that were evil, and who opposed the Lord’s will. In fact, Grendel hated when the people celebrated all night while singing glorious songs and drinking at the Herot hall. Therefore, the people of Danes suffered from his hell made actions. Beowulf on the other hand, knew he had to protect the people of Danes
Even though, they both have different impacts in the village. First, Grendel and Beowulf fought for what they believed in. Grendel fought for keeping his ancestor’s hatred against the Lord’s will alive. However, Beowulf fought Grendel because he knew Grendel’s actions were wrong. Next, they both wanted something from the village of Danes. Grendel thirst and hungered for the blood of the warriors that slept in Herot hall. His greed led to warriors being taken and the arrival of Beowulf. Beowulf wanted everyone to know who he was and what he can do. Finally, Grendel and Beowulf were powerful against one another. The two fought a good fight until Grendel lost his strength and Beowulf destroyed him. Therefore, a blood hungry monster and a idolized hero can have some similarities between each
