The story “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” by Shakur is a story about a rose that has grown from the concrete as mentioned in the title, speaking about how a rose grew against its odds using forms of personification and metaphors throughout the story. “The Blind Men and the Elephant” by Saxe is a story about six blind Indonesian men who went to see an elephant. So very round and smooth and sharp?” and “‘tis very clear.” While in “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” Shakur uses rhetorical questions and allusion to demonstrate feelings of inclusion to the reader. The question “Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?” is a rhetorical question directed towards someone, such as the reader or another character. Shakur used the words “Long live” to portray allusion in the text. These are all characteristics of entertainment texts. Texts are used to portray stories or feelings. The stories “The Blind Men and the Elephant” and “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” displayed forms of figurative language, syntax, and author's purpose to bring the story to life and make it entertaining for the reader. These stories are similar and different, but both good in their own ways. The authors bring the stories together with different forms of writing in different ways. To me, these stories are both unique and portray different ideas and themes.
