Group Activities: Paw Patrol Ready For Rescue
When the clients arrive, we will begin by having each child sit on a blanket we will have laid on the ground in the front of the occupational therapy classroom. We will have them do this because in the back on the room, we will have an obstacle course set up for the group members to complete during the activity. We will start by welcoming our members to our group activity called Paw Patrol Ready for Rescue. We will then ask each child to please stay on their blanket we assigned them to. Then, we will begin by introducing ourselves and ask the group members to introduce themselves as well. Along with telling us their names, we will ask them their favorite Paw Patrol character. For our warm up, we will have 3 small, halloween cups with a cotton …show more content…
Once the cup gets back to the leader, she will begin passing the second cup and repeat the process two more times until all three cups have made it completely around the group and we have received responses from all group members. After all the cups have been passed, the group leader will point out similarities that were noticed for the smells. For example, if all the group members stated that the lavender made them feel calm, then the group leader would be sure to mention the feeling that they experienced. Finally, we will explain to the group members that we will be completing an obstacle course, that is halloween and Paw Patrol themed, 3 times with a different challenge added each time to test their abilities. We will also tell them that the activity should take 15 minutes total, and if at any point during the trials they are feeling stressed, anxious, or frustrated, they need to tell us so that we can help them find ways to calm themselves down. We will also explain to the members that we expect them to pay attention, participate to the best of their ability, and be respectful to the other group members and us group

    The intervention consisted of the social skills training and facilitated play. The participants met for 1 hour sessions twice a week over a 7-week period. The format of the intervention groups consisted of a brief warm-up session of unstructured free play; self-presentation speeches; circle time; and leader-facilitated free play. The self-presentation speech session was intended to give the participants an opportunity to speak freely in a safe environment about a topic they were familiar with.
