The conference took place in New York City on March 11th and ran intill the 14th.
Students were asked to look at the conference schedule and develop a one-page presentation proposal that they could present to the forth-year media studies classes next fall.
Kimberley Noble, a media studies professor at Guelph-Humber said the goal was to educate the students about the topics at the conference and present them to the transition to work classes next year.
The four students were excited when they heard about this opportunity; however, many did not think that they would be accepted.

Students attending the conference were able to sign up for media outlet tours that were taking place throughout the conference.
The tours were assigned on a lottery system; students were able to sign up for their top three tours.
Schlote was selected to attend a tour of Democracy now, an independent daily news outlet.
“One thing I valued about them is that they are able to report on what they want. They don’t have to be afraid of the government or of upsetting any sponsors that they have.” Schlote said.
Schlote was not the only student who was able to attend a tour of a media outlet. Media Business Student, Ryan Williams was also selected to tour a media outlet.
“I was selected to tour Buzzfeed! I got to tour the office and visit all the different sectors. It was an amazing experience," William’s Said.
Williams was excited to learn about the different sectors and see how the newsroom operated. One thing he enjoyed at the tour was to see how Buzz feed news sector operated.
“No one sees buzz feed as credible for their news stories and they are trying to change that. They brought a whole new floor directed to news and that was very interesting to me,” Williams
