“There is only one cure for gray hair. It was invented by a Frenchman. It is called the Guillotine.”-P.G Wodehouse. In 1789 France, Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotin proposed a new invention for execution. Dr Joseph-Ignance Guillotin disliked the way how people were in pain while getting beheaded. The guillotine is a machine with a heavy blade sliding vertically. It is made out of posts, rope, cross bar, bascule, lunette, hard wood, mouton and steel for the blade.. In 1792, the guillotine took its first victim. Executioners were able to get punished. Executioners can get punished if the execution was not done properly. Executioners are punished if the victim looked like they were in a lot of pain. Executioners are also punished based on the crowd’s opinion of how they execute people. Lots of random people on the streets got executed for absolutely no reason at all. Some people are framed as a guilty person and are beheaded. Some people are just throw in the guillotine to please the crowd. Many random people are picked off of the crowd and get beheaded. Another negative effect of the guillotine, is how messy it is. “Blood will gush out in a high spurt for about 30 seconds after head is removed,”-Mike Cahill. This means that blood will just rush out the neck. Blood will also squirt out for 3 yards and no one wants to clean that blood up. Overall, the negative effects of the guillotine are pretty nasty and disgusting.
