Winter and summer driving. Winter weather is scary to drive, when the floor is wet or slippery. Why in summer you only have heat to worry about. the only difference is the weather because ,when driving in the summer you will wear your seat belt. In winter you will still wear your seat belt.…
This is how life might be in some years. With restrictions as low as they are for such a dangerous item, this is how life may become.…
East of Eden is a classic tale that incorporates many themes and motifs within the storyline. Throughout the film, Steinbeck makes numerous references about good versus evil. The characters Cal and Aaron Trask are based upon the biblical characters Cain and Abel. Aaron represents everything good while everyone considers Cal “bad.” The film starts off with Cal finding out a deep family secret. Adam Trask is a farmer, the war draft board chairman as well as Cal and Aaron’s father. In the story, he obviously favors Aaron more than Cal. He seems to have full confidence that Aaron will succeed in his life. However, when it comes to Cal he isn’t really sure who he is. The story takes a dramatic twist and Cal shows that even the “baddest” have some good in them.…
“The right to bear arms”, an amendment so prioritized by our founding fathers that it earned the very second spot on the list of birth rights as Americans. However, with constant tragedies striking the United States, such as massacres in public high schools and universities, mall shootings, and attempted assassinations on state representatives, it’s no wonder law makers are constantly debating the topic of gun control.…
Amidst all the raging debates regarding gun control, it is important to evaluate the issue from the perspective of the role that guns play in the lives of citizens. Crime has been on the rise in several American states. The rising cases of homicide in the past few years have prompted several states to implement stringent gun control laws that restrict purchase and possession of firearms by civilians. The American constitution allows civilians to own firearms for their own protection. However, this is not the main argument why gun control should not be allowed. This argument supports the need for Americans to protect themselves and their families. America does not need gun control but stringent policies that address the causes of gun misuse (Lott 83).…
What would be going through your mind if you were in a restaurant and a mad man came in and began slaughtering people right and left including you family (Swasey 174)? Would you be thinking if they would ban guns this would have never happened? Probably not! What you were probably thinking is if I had a gun on me I could protect not only my family but also the others being slaughtered. This same scenario was on the mind of Suzanna Gratia as written in Elizabeth Swasey essay ”NRA Woman’s Voice”(174). People are starting to see a gun as an object of death and destruction, and not what they are intended to be.…
There have been a few gun control fights throughout history, none of which being very effective. The problems with firearms that we face today are in fact tragic, and this gun control fight is indeed the largest the country has ever had. But looking back, there have been multiple murders and crimes committed every day since the dawn of America. And this fight for gun control, is it really the answer we seek? Or are we heading in the opposite direction? The problems with gun violence and controlling it are indeed very thoughtful subjects, and we all wish to end these tragedies and the problems that create them. Here, I am about to present two articles with two opposite perspectives on this subject.…
The United States of America holds a position of one of the highest rate of reported gun violence that unintentionally caused the death of a child (“Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America”). According to the second amendment in the Constitution, citizens have the right to own and bear arms. This is a controversial topic that is often debated and almost all people have their own opinion. Moms Demand Action is a current organization determined to make changes to our laws to prevent gun violence. One advertisement that subjects itself around the issue of gun control depicts two children: one holding a Kinder chocolate egg and one holding an AK-47. It also is captioned with the statement, "One child is holding something that's been banned…
Watch out! Murder and mayhem is surely on the horizon as gun control laws are being dropped, and penalties could be imposed on those who do not comply. The debate over the use of guns in the United States can be traced back as far as 1791. The United States has the greatest percentage of private firearm ownership in the world. Most people do not just own one gun they own two or more guns. The average citizen comes to the realization that in order to deter and defend themselves and their loved ones against crimes, the burden becomes theirs. The police cannot protect every individual from a crime. The book “Dial 911 and Die”, through different stories, proves that citizens need to rely upon themselves for their own personal protection. Even though each state has its own individual gun control laws, there is no nationwide system of gun control. Criminals can very easily have someone buy a gun for them in a state with slack gun laws and then have it brought back to a state with stricter gun laws. With that being said, a gun that is locked in a gun cabinet, disabled, or even just unloaded is less readily available as one that is left loaded and ready to use. People should not have limited access to their guns in our society because it’s a person’s right to bear arms; in addition, opposing gun control laws does not lessen crime rates and it is counterproductive in saving lives.…
Unnecessary deaths are happening every single day and using guns for all the wrong reasons.Guns are being used by someone because they're mad and people are getting harmed.Children are getting ahold of guns and accidently shooting others.People use guns for the wrong reasons and try to show their authority. This is why we need to do something about gun control.Controlling guns is the only way to prevent unnecessary deaths in this world.Ways to control guns: Is reduce the usage of guns, making new laws and the last one is limiting people that don't need the gun and also have a mental illness should not be allowed to use a gun.…
As Barack Obama once said “My biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage...This is becoming the normal. We should be ashamed ”(Obama). All around America many people are killed by gun violence. The issue of gun control has taken place in America for many years now.Now gun control has got out of hand.Due to the amount of gun violnece in the United States, the government has evrey right to dictate to citizens that they should not be allowed to own guns.…
Although the Second Amendment guarantees our right to own a gun, with stricter gun laws restricting not only felons but people who have anger management problems, America can reduce the amount of deaths immensely.…
According to GunControl Pro and Con published in 2016 reported that firearms were the 12th leading cause of all deaths, representing only 1.3% of total deaths in the United States. With over 200 million firearms in the United States, and millions of legal gun ownership in the U.S., how can that many people have it wrong? If all of those people feel it is right to own a firearm, it is going to take a lot of convincing to think otherwise! Gun control laws do not deter crime. How do I know this? Well let us evaluate other countries that have implemented stronger gun laws to deter crime and death in their society, and see if it is plausible to pursue such within the United States. The United Kingdom is known for having strict gun laws, laws that strictly prohibit the possession of firearms, but according to the statistics of 2015, there were 2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people in the UK versus 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people in the United States. And despite strict gun regulations, Europe has had 3 of the worst 6 school shootings. In Mexico, there is only one gun supplying store; the Directorate of Arms and Munitions on a secure military base, that will allow its citizens “who can provide proof of income, references, pass mental health evaluation, and pass a criminal background check to purchase a firearm. It has some of the strictest gun laws but in 2012, Mexico had 11, 309 gun murders compared to the United States that had 9,146 gun homicides.” Mexico has also enforced the regulation that only one certain kind of firearm can be purchased unlike the United States which provided an eclectic variety; yet Mexico is said to have 13.5 guns per 100 people in their own country. What do these statistics reveal? That even in countries whose government regulates the purchasing of firearms, the lengths of doing so, and the accessibility to its citizens…
One of the biggest controversial topics in America today is Gun Control, whether we should or should not have gun control. The Government claims that if they take the guns away, that there will be a drop in deaths and crimes. The Second Amendment state that every citizen of the United States of America has a right to bare arms(ProCon#1). The Gun Control Law will take away that right completely, along with some of our freedom. If the Gun Control Law is enforced in the United States, our hunting right will be removed, our self-defense right will be taken away, and it will amplify the problem.…
One of the most debatable topics in the United States is the availability of guns. The debate on the topic of gun laws focuses on those who believe that owning guns is a Constitutional right while others believe that owning guns is a leading cause of much of the violence within the United States. However, there is a balance between the two debates that will lead to a better conclusion to the topic. Making guns illegal will only lead to criminals possessing illegal firearms while the law abiding citizens will be faced with the threat of criminals with firearms while they have no source of protection. At the same time, the current laws do not require every state to follow laws that would allow for the government to ensure that the firearms do not legally fall into the hands of criminals or those not responsible to own firearms.…
