When reading To a Dark Girl by Gwendolyn Bennett, I thought about my childhood and how I was always comparing myself to the people I saw on Tv or Magazines. I would look at them and see how different I looked from them. I would try so hard to change my appearance so I could look a little bit similar to the models, by wearing makeup and constantly straightening my hair.
