Denotes an older woman, who could be the asker’s mother, mother-in-law or older female relative or friend. Signifies an older man, father, father-in-law or older male relative or friend, possibly a man from the asker’s past, or some such man who has passed away or is currently in the asker’s life but is stuck in the past.
